Q:
New cities?
I have an Elonian themed Thief. When Elona becomes available will you be able to start there or will it mostly have Karma vendors for racially themed gear?
1: Anet never said that Elona will come available. There is nothing known bout future content. People are just guessing the game might develop into that direction.
2: Anet did stated that They will only release expansions, and no stand alone campaigns. So it will be different then in GW1
3: There is a lot of talk bout new playable races. So cause Anet listens a lot to the community you can expect more playable races.
Given these points I think it will be really unlikely that you can make a human in an possible elonian themed expansion. You can give your (human) character an elonian look and it is already possible to have very elonian looking gear.
The final and shortest answer is that there is nothing known bout future expansions

1.) If you hit “M” and go to the bottom right. “Elona” is literally on the world map. So its there just you cant go yet.
2.) If you go to the Ossan Quarter of Divinity’s Reach you can see the where the Elonian Race settle.
3.) “Elona is not accessible in the initial release of Guild Wars 2.” From the gw2 wiki which is 100% supported by Anet. You can even /wiki ingame to bring it up.

1: So is the crystal desert, the fireislands, etc. That doesn’t mean they will be reachable in the future. I am just saying that what your asking can’t be answered
2: Yip, there are elonian’s in kryta and the continent Tyria. Wow. Then they are really sure to make an expansion. That is making a conclusion like that there are Quaggan’s in the game, so Quaggan’s will be a playable race in the future…..

No Anet employee is officially editing the wiki. Most of the work is done by players like you and me. So don’t use it as statements from Anet
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Elonian culture resides currently mainly in the Ossan Quarter in Divinity’s Reach.
There, architecture tries to emulate Elonian buildings. Mainly Kournan ones. It also has some crypts and Grenth-themed stuff though.
There are no vendors with Elonian-themed armr, weapons town clothes or anything at all in there.
Cantha would be in what now is The Great Collapse, but the place is a bit down right now.
Ascalonian culture resides mainly in Rurikton.
I assume that Krytan culture is mainly in the Easter and Wester commons, and the rest, along foreigners and other races, mainly in Salma’s district.
If you go to Fields of Ruin and visit Blackwing Exavation right outside Ebonhawke’s southern gates, you’ll see one of several ‘blocked portals’ in the game. It’s called the Desert Gate and leads to the Crystal Desert, but the doors are closed and the guards won’t let you pass.
You can see another quite clearly in Brisban Wildlands, north within Lionshead Outcrops. You’ll see some bandits repairing a bridge to reach the portal to Magus Falls.
Actual portals being there doesn’t mean the area is actually behind, though. It only hints to the possibility of an area being made to fill the spot.
It would be nice to know ahead of time. I made a very great looking character but I really dont want to reroll from 80 if I come to find there will be new starting areas. You can choose lineage during your story so its very questionable atm.
I would guess humans will be a playable race in all future expansions. Both because so much of the story and history established in the first game is tied to them and because so many people only like to play as humans.
But as I said it’s just a guess, as other people have said we don’t know what Anet will do in future expansions.
