New here!
Wandering around is acually very good. Remember to meet the people, bith NPC and PC, on the way and gather wood, ore and plants as soon as you can.
Do what the Heart Tasks ask and take part in any event you come across.
Watch for spawning Dynamic Events and World Events (orange circles on the minimap).
Pay attention to the /map chat for call outs of events.
Explore each map zone for rewards and achievements.
Play WvW or sPvP if you like that.
Start collecting resources to raise cash or prepare for crafting if so inclined.
Visit other starting zones and do all the above stuff.
Do jumping puzzles for lots, achievements and aggravation (hehe).
That’ll get you started maybe.
Good luck and enjoy the trip.
This entire game is endgame so you should not feel the need to rush to 80.
Before you get much further, and so that you don’t make the same mistake I did…
Go to Heart of the Mists by clicking on the 2 crossed swords in the top left-hand corner of your screen. There, you can preview every armour set in the game, try out all your class’ abilities before you even unlock them and experiment with the different weapons available to your class FOR FREE.
Take this advice and play around with a few different classes to make sure you’ve picked the right one. – Are you sure you wanna be a Ranger? >.>
thanks for all the suggestions : D
i’ll go about collecting stuff for crafting.
used my friends account previously before purchasing my own account. ranger suits me just fine for now : )
Fair enough. Have fun. :P
I just leveled my first toon, a ranger, to 80. You will be surprised how quickly it goes. I’ve only just reached 50% on world exploration. Start planning your build now but keep exploring and keep up with your personal story. Advancement in this game tends to happen by just doing whatever you feel like doing that day…
If you have the time, do your Daily quests everyday. You want those laurels, trust me.
Learn your class skills, dodging, and controlling your pet. Try all of the weapons available to Ranger and use all of them enough to unlock the skills. I went with shortbow primary with axe and warhorn secondary. It works for my playstyle but there are other options.
Read and absorb everything you can on the forums and on http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/ – both are excellent sources for information.
Good luck and have fun in your travels. It really is an awesome game given half a chance.
