Q:

Hi, new to high level game. I thought stacking Power and Precision would be best for all classes and then specialize the rest according to unique class or weapon. i.e. Guardian: power and precision then Toughness? I just assumed power and precision would benefit all classes generally as the main stats. Am I wrong? Any experts able to guide me. Sorry my English is not great.

Thank you for any help.

A:

If your going power/precision, then you need to go crit damage as the 3rd stat to max your damage…

Usually get crit chance to 50%-100% (personal preference), then get that crit damage as high as possible…

So its berserker gear really. Then use your trait stats to adjust your build overall.

Example, if its easy content you face just do everything to max damage.

If you die too much, change traits and put what you need into vitality/toughness until you feel comfortable.

The most expensive things to change are your equipment, so its best to get 1 and stick to it and vary your build by paying a couple of silver to change traits…

Celestial also an option, you may want to consider with a Guardian…

It is build dependent. If you are going for a condition build however then you would be better off with carrion or rabid. Which are power vitality condition and power condition toughness. As conditions are not able to crit Precision would not be much use.

FALSE. Precision is of use to professions that benefit from traits that apply conditions on crit (Warrior, Necro, Engineer, Ranger, Mesmer), and should at least not be ignored. The bleed on crit is especially nice for masking heavier hitting conditions you’d like to avoid being cleansed.

“It depends” is going to be the answer.

Power/Precision will not bring nearly as much benefit to a condition spec, so it will not be best for all.

How do you want to play your guardian? What part of the game will you be playing in most? PvP/PvE/WvW

Answer that and go from there. If you’re starting from scratch start with rare gear as it’s cheaper, and/or playtest some in the mists.
