Suggestion: Press [Y] while in the game to bring up the Looking for Group menu. If there isn’t a party listed for the thing you want to do, you can advertise your party and have other people join you.
When you write a description for your party, try to be as helpful and clear as you can. Post it in the right category for what you want to do (Open World, Personal Story, Dungeons, etc.)
Oh, and welcome to Guild Wars 2!
Most people dont group because the game makes it so everyone on the map is basically one giant group. Everyone can help each other without grouping up. Its not like in other mmos where oyu have to be the first one to tag a mob to get the exp/drops. Also its a year in and most of the community has level 80s they play with unless they are leveling a new one which is the reason you wont often see alot of people in those lower ones.

All the professions can solo most critters. Dynamic Events are flash mobs of players and the loot threshold is rather low in terms of damage done. This doesn’t mean you can’t party in the open world, it’s just outside of friends and guild mates it’s not needed except in dungeons and fractals.
RIP City of Heroes
I recently bought Guild Wars 2 a lil over a week ago, and been having problems leveling. I’m on the Borlis Pass server and always ask if anyone wants to group with me since this game doesn’t seem to be easy to solo each zone. I have asked in all the maps i journey to and don’t seem to ever get a reply. I have 3 chars so far, and on atleast once a day and would love if someone wouldn’t mind leveling with me from 1-80. I will post below my characters so if anyone would like to contact me u will know who to send the message 2.
Characters:
52 Warrior (Varmuty)
8 Ranger (Deakstok)
14 Necromancer (Pestify)
I just recently came back after not having played since last year, and I found that my server was rather dead. So I wound up transferring to a more populated, social server, so as I’m leveling my alts (I left with one 80, and a few 20s-30s) I’m actually encountering people, whether they’re just completionists/achievement hunters, or leveling new alts. But it is worth noting, I rarely if ever actually form a group – it’s usually simply that other people are nearby and working on similar objectives. It does make me miss other games in which people had no issue grouping up and clearing PvE world content together, however I think the structure of GW2 reduces that demand. Perhaps look for an active guild?
I am a relatively new player, been playing for about 3 months. My biggest piece of advice for your first time is stick to one character. It is so much better, you can get to grips with the game and learn the mechanics of both your character and the world around you. After I reached 80 on my Warrior, I stayed playing him for another month before even starting an alt.
If you want a few levels quickly, I suggest starting up crafting or more specifically, cooking. Cooking is the cheapest and fastest craft to level, but seeing your characters I would also recommend looking at Weaponsmithing. Warrior uses Sword, Axe, Greatsword, Spear, Shield and Mace which all can be made in Weaponsmithing. Also, unless you use the dreaded ‘double bearbow’ you will also benefit from it on your Ranger.
If you are having problems soloing zones on your Warrior, I think something is wrong. But as an all-round tip, if you are struggling to survive in zones, increase your characters Vitality/Toughness. This means by looking for gear with these stats, or putting a few trait points in either slots (Warrior is Tactics and Defence).
As a fairly new player myself I and having just recently leveled my second character to 80(Necro) I’ll say that Guild Wars 2 is not like other mmos in that you can grind your way to the top by solely killing things. The fastest way to gain xp is by discovering new areas and all the details within them(vistas, skill points, points of interest, etc). Also your personal story gives good chunks of xp after completing certain parts of it. All in all it took me about three weeks real time(80hrs playtime) from char creation to ding lv80.
I got 100% explored/map completion in every major city, every starting, and from there every low lvl area (nothing above my level, 15-25, 25-35, etc.)
That put me around lvl60 with 50%map completion, from there I took advantage of the current living story and went around Kessex hills opening doors and doing the events from that.
That got me to about 69, from there I did my most of the personal story(from personal story lv3 til about lv63) which didn’t take long seeing as I had a lot of the world already explored which meant waypoints for faster traveling.
That put me around 75-76, from there I just did random stuff, tried to champ train(that was no good) ended up helping out this necro in Queensdale named Pestify until I hit level 79. Thats when I bought a few mats from the vendor and a few from the tp to level cooking from 1-100 and….ding 80!
