Hey, I really never got into the game after I bought it, thanks to a move. I got my computer back, and I’m looking to restart, but I am having trouble with class selection.

I want a class that can solo, but is still desired in groups. I started a warrior, and I like it, but reading the forums makes me think that it is not solo-friendly in the later levels, although it seems fine now.

Is this true?

Is it a good class for grouping?

Warrior is a fine choice for soloing and for groups.

If you are enjoying it, play it. That goes for all the classes. Some classes are more newb/solo friendly (like heavy armor wearers), but every class is viable and there are no undesirable classes in GW2 like you see in other games.

Bro I love your question because it is identical to mine. I I have found that class is not important cause you can beat the game with all of one class basically as long as they are different specs. I would love to group up sometime and play. You should join yaks bend server and we can play together I am only level 10 and 19 it could be fun playing together. I maybe make a noob guild it could be fun.

Profession forums tend to be full of whiners- take everything you read there with a grain of salt. Several, if possible.

My good friend plays a warrior and rocks the game with it- he’s soloed multiple high-level champions, killed three 80s solo in WvW, and trio’ed AC with myself (elementalist) and a thief friend, with a duo challenge planned. On the other hand, I’ve seen warriors who, to put it bluntly, just plain suck- they stand rock-still when fighting, don’t move out of AoEs or dodge, and get themselves and everyone around killed.

True, the class gets harder in the late levels, but it’s nothing skill can’t overcome.

So all classes have a place in this game? Not like, wow, say, where there are fifty DPS for every tank?

Some classes are more useful then others.

An all-guardian or all-warrior group, or any combination of the 2, can easily solo almost, if not all, dungeons in the game.

80 Guardian. 80 Warrior. 80 Thief. 80 Engineer. 80 Necromancer. 80 Ranger.

Warrior is literally extremely versatile. It isnt the best at anything, but great at everything. This game is hard to noobies, so your gonna be unhappy about any class you play as. I even see people complaining about ele. (most OP class NA). Just play whatever class you feel most comfortable playing.

How are you fighting? In GW2, avoiding damage is just as, if not more important than healing it. Try to move around when fighting, and if you see an enemy winding up a big attack, dodge out of the way.

Also, it’s normal for enemies to hit very hard, even on heavy classes. Hence the emphasis on avoiding damage. Warrior tends to be one of the more forgiving classes in that it can handle more raw damage than others, but only to a degree.

The biggest mistake I see players making when leveling is using sub-standard gear. They think: “I don’t want to waste money ugprading gear since I’m just going to out-level it and have to replace it in a couple days anyway.”

Don’t think of it as buying gear. Think of it as renting it. Open the TP (trading post). Use the search options to narrow the list to appropriate armor and weapons for your level (or close to it). Hover your mouse over the item’s picture. A description will pop up including the price you’ll get for selling it to an NPC.

Now search for armor and weapons which players are selling for a few copper more than the NPC price. Most of the time you can get something for 1 copper more than the NPC price. In many cases, green (masterpiece) gear falls into this category. When you find something you like, buy it and use it.

In a couple days when you’ve outgrown it and upgraded to new gear, sell the old stuff to an NPC and get nearly all of your money back. Congratulations, you’ve just rented an entire set of level-appropriate armor and weapons for about a dozen copper.

When appropriately geared, warrior is by far the easiest class to level I’ve played. Most fights are over so quickly I barely take damage. The only time I have to heal is when fighting 3-5 mobs simultaneously.

Solandri is correct. Try to upgrade your equipment every 5 levels or so. It costs you basically nothing, since most stuff in the trading post are sold for pennies above the NPC sell price.

Use your first 3 skill points to purchase the healing signet. You will literally faceroll until at least level 50

80 Guardian. 80 Warrior. 80 Thief. 80 Engineer. 80 Necromancer. 80 Ranger.
