New player..Need help
Since you can have 5 characters by default on your account, I strongly suggest to experiment with those 3 (get them up to level 10-20 to get a good look ‘n feel about the profession). The one profession you keep going back to, is the one you’ll like the most, and will become the one you’ll excell in..

All of them are great classes to play, though if you want to do dungeons then Ranger isn’t the best option as there are some groups who won’t take Rangers in their group. However, there are plenty of others that do, so don’t let it stop you.
I main a Necro and love her to bits. The conditions you can stack on enemies is amazing, and they’ve had a recent buff to some skills which has really helped in this area. You have a lot of survivability and a high health pool, if that means anything to you, and of course the minions and wells are fun. Tons of AOE attacks (thinking staff here) will do massive damage to a whole group of enemies – clearing rooms is a LOT of fun with this class.
Mesmers are always wanted for dungeon groups, and they can be a lot of fun to play and are you can get some great builds with them. However, I’d say that they are the least easy profession to learn and feel very strong in until later levels, when they really take off.
So, if you want something very quick to pick up, then Ranger is great. If you want something that requires a little more investment, take Necro or Mesmer.

A group that strikes out a profession isn’t a good group at all, so they probably weren’t worth it in the first place..
I main ranger and do lots of dungeons with it. And never ever am I the scapegoat of the party..

This is absolutely true. I steer well clear of groups that aren’t willing to run anything other than certain professions and builds within those professions. As I said in my post, it shouldn’t stop the OP if that’s the class he wants to play, but it is a warning, just in case.
Glad to hear you have had a good experience finding groups with your Ranger (I do know on some servers this has been a difficult experience for many people).
