Guild Wars 2

Hey guys. So about two years ago I made myself a thief and after playing WvW pre-level 10…I played that for 3 weeks straight until I hit 80. At that point you could have called me a “man child”. High level with decent pvp gear but I was not experienced at all. With only 10% world map complete and 12 gold and 70 silver. However I thoroughly enjoyed it.

So here I am now. I deleted my characters and kept my 80 level gear so I could server change and join my other 8 friends who now play as well. I was also lucky enough to pick up the level 20 boost. Right now I’m still rocking a thief that is level 23. My friends told me not to do the personal story because it gives level ups—better for when I need the exp.

So now, here I really am…I’m just a lost sheep completing events as they come along and quests but not actually working towards a goal (besides reaching 80 and being totally bada**). It just doesn’t feel rewarding or anything and sort of boring mainly because I don’t even know what I’m doing. So here is my pretty vague and general question to you guys…

What can/should I do? I really want to get into this game and enjoy all aspects I can of it or at least experience it. Its been years since I actually enjoyed an mmorpg and I feel like I can get a lot of joy out of this. I already had an immense amount of fun in WvW.

So..thoughts?

Honestly, I would say do the personal story. Leveling is relatively fast in this game, so I don’t think you’ll ever find yourself in absolute desperate need of experience that would make it worth stalling. Having the story to point you toward new places and to give you a narrative to look forward to as you level is in my opinion a fun part of the game which may also give you some context to the world and make you enjoy things more. Once you hit level 30 you will also start opening dungeons, which can be a fun addition and a source of experience.

Other than that, there’s a lot to do but obviously it’s not for everyone. Personally I love doing map completion or finding jumping puzzles, for example. I also like collecting skins to make myself pretty, some of said skins are sold by various heart vendors around the world, which adds some motivation to completing them.

You can also consider hitting sPvP, where your level won’t matter and you can scratch the itch to kill other players!

You may also consider trying a different class to switch things up – if only to level your thief mainly but switching over when you start feeling tired/lost, sometimes having something else to compare or to just add variety can make the slow stretches a lot better.
