Hello all,

I bought this game1 month ago and joined the sea of sorrows server. I currently have a level 25 thief. I’d log on, play one main quest, complete a few hearts then log off.

I find I get bored quickly and can’t play for long periods of time. I feel this game is best enjoyed with other people and not flying solo. Feels my server is dead though. I don’t know if it’s my starting point ( azura) or I’m doing wrong quests to level, but I rarely encounter anyone to play with. And when I do, they’re usually afk standing. I never find anyone to do those random group quests that pop up on the map.

I kinda regret buying this game so late, or even buying it at all.

I guess my question is what is there to do in this game? I watch reviews and I see groups of people traveling epic locations and gang banging epic monsters. All I’m doing is slaughtering innocent wildlife animals again and again.

Hopefully someone understands what I want from this game and can help me. Thanks in advance for the replies

Because no one really does those events. Hearts are exploration are really a part of the drudgery that anyone grinding for more legendaries needs to endure :P

Back at launch it was more of a thing. Your big goal for now should be to level to 80 and learning to efficiently play your class. Good news for you: the game has been out long enough that there are great guides out to teach your how to play your class! Then you should work on getting your gear maxed.

It’s really up to you what you prefer to do with your time after that. You’ve got dungeons, fractals, WvW, World Bosses, etc… You can of course dabble in a few things although I’ve found that most pick either the PvE or WvW side of the house to specialize in.

Bottom line: Seems like you don’t like doing map completion (hearts, vistas, dynamic events, etc). That’s fine. Not many people do. Soon you will see more people in game because of the megaserver update to merge the maps. Do yourself a favor and just get yourself to 80. Do not suffer through the boring stuff :P

Thanks for the reply saint. This is encouraging to know at least. So how would you suggestis the fastest and easiest way to level? The main quest/ hearts thing is pretty slow. I heard crafting helps. But i usually craft all I can from the mats I gather before I log off. And this is my first character so I don’t really have the gold/karma to buy craft mats

And yes I think I’m just waiting to do dungeons with a group. From what I gather I can start queuing for group dungeons at level 30? Just a little more :p

If you’re low level (1-15), try leveling in Queensdale rather than Metrica Province; it’s more crowded there.

Once you reach level 30, you will be eligible for your first dungeon (Ascalon Catacombs). Dungeons are a group activity by default.

Also, I’m not sure if you are into PvP, but World versus World is group activity by definition. Press “B” or click the castle-shaped icon at the top of your screen to bring up the WvW menu, and it will allow you to enter both the regular WvW maps and the Edge of the Mists directly.

Finally, ArenaNet will start rolling out their new “megaserver” concept over the course of this year, which should ensure that any zone you play in will have a decent-sized population.

Queensdale and Wayfarer Foothills is where i normally always spent the first levels, i think those are both better than Metrica. I also simply don’t really like the whole zone layout of Metrica.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Your server Sea of Sorrows is far from dead, it have a good population. The thing is, you in a unpopular starting area. Most people have already 1 or several level 80 toons so they either don’t play in the starting area or play in the starting area where there is something to do like the champion train in Queensdale (a group of ppl doing a chain of champion for loots).

You see more people when you know where to go, ppl go where there is something to do. A map can be empty, then a world boss appear and a bunch of people is getting on the map to do it, then get out of the map. Or they go into dungeon, into fractal, play in WvW or sPvP. All those are popular activities, but you won’t see all these people when you play in the Asura Starting area.

With the introduction of the Megaserver for the low level area, you will see more people, even in the asura starting area. If there were like 5 ppl in that map on most server, then with the megaserver there will be more like 80-100 ppl in the map with you.
