I defected from WoW two weeks ago and am having trouble sticking with a profession to continue on with. I played a warrior and a druid in WoW and often preferred versatility in play-style. So far I’ve played a guardian and a thief to level 20; and a warrior and engineer to level 10. Not sure I really understand any of them yet but it would seem they are generally within my preferred play-style. What I’m looking for is something that is decent in all aspects of gameplay, that is easy to learn and offers decent variety in play-style. I want to be able to solo adequately but also be able to be supportive in groups, A jack-of-all-trades, if you will. Which profession does that most closely describe?

I’m an ex-WoW player too – my first GW2 char was a guardian and I found it pretty easy to adapt to. There is a wide choice of weapons, so you can make a build that is more defensive and ‘tanky’, or you can go for more direct damage, with burns, blinds etc – you also provide very valuable support and healing for your party. With the new expansion, rangers will get a druid-type specialisation, but we don’t have much detail on that yet. But all classes are valuable – just find one that’s fun for you.

You’re not going to be able to get a feel for how the prof will really play until you hit 80. To get a better idea go into the mists as soon as you can (I don’t remember what the entry level is these days) and test out some builds for profs you think you’d want to play.

If you hadn’t been following GW2 news the Ranger will be getting an option to specialize into a Druid in the upcoming expansion.

I’d probably recommend a Warrior.

Jack of all trades that class would be Ranger imo one of the best solo classes in gw2 can bring good support to your team good at everything master of none easy to play easy to learn easy to make you become lazy ( this is true if you go easy on yourself ) when you play with fr or guildies dungeon won’t be a problem otherwise ppl may hate you ( sorry dungeon community in this game kinda suk ).
