I’m new this guild wars 2 however I find it daunting to find what I actually want to play as to farm items to use for any other characters that I would want to create in the future.

Since I am new I am not looking into PvP yet but I would like to have class and build that can farm and do PvE effectively. For example, in other mmo’s some classes where good at farming and making money from it, some were just power houses meant for PvP and bossing, other where meant as support.

To put it simple, I am looking for a class and build that I can lvl to 80 to amass items and gold(Farming, Killing bosses, etc..) so I can use for my next and following characters.

Any ideas on what would be best plus any tips for a new player?

Thanks in advance.

Warrior is your class, high defense/HP, high damage, good AoEs with physical damage and easy to play.

Charter Vanguard [CV] – HoD
Bardy Belzebuson – Ranger Sir Belzebu – Herald
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

I was in the same boat as you for 2 weeks and i am having a blast on a engineer love the variety and you can play literally every role and can solo anything better than most classes.

Also bombs, flame thrower, Grenades, Turrets, rocket boots.

I understand what you are saying, but GW2 classes are not like this. There is no “PvP class” or “PvE flash farming class”. Every class is jack of all trades by design. The game isn’t perfectly balanced so sure some classes are better at some things, but the difference is minuscule compared to other games.

Pretty much sums it up. The ‘best’ class to use for farming will end up being what you’re already comfortable with. High damage glass cannon – elementalist or mesmer. Strong survivability? Guardian perhaps. Soloing – ranger or necromancer?

What’s your play style?

Defy logic, go berserker guardian.

In all seriousness, everyone is saying the same thing – there is no “best class” per se, your best class will be the one you get comfy with. Take a gamble. I have 5 80s, all of which I can handle pretty comfortably, but I consider my top classes to be elementalist and mesmer (partly because their playtimes exceed 1k hours each), and currently I’m working on mastering my full zerk guardian. So really, it’s your choice, although some classes tend to perform consistently better than others in some areas.

Well I was always more of a Magic/Long range user. I tried out the Ele but it just didn’t suit me. I like the Necromancer. I really wanted to try the Mesmar but I couldn’t find a build that suits me. I might give the Eng or Ranger a go since that interests me.

In terms of play style I am more of a Tactical, Control, Dps, and Lockdown type of guy.

I like controlling what my opponent can and can’t do.( Both PvP and PvE)

Any other thoughts on that? Maybe builds/Classes that will compliment that play style?
