New player questions
1. You can if you want to. Completing them gives you 10 AP and some experience.
2. I believe LB/GS ranger is an ok option for PvP. Double check in the ranger subforum as I don’t really PvP on my Ranger.
3. I don’t see why not. They’ll give some ok loot and are a quick way to level up. Fair warning dungeons are a step up from open world in terms of difficulty. Also you may want to mention to people (either in your LFG or when you join) that you’re new to the dungeon.
4. Yes. Choose two of Leatherworker (armour), Weaponsmith (greatsword, axes, swords etc.) or Huntsman (longbow, warhorns, shortbows etc.) depending on which you’d prefer to focus on. Please note that in sPvP all gear is normalized so your best PvE gear doesn’t matter there.
5. No there is no open world PvP. There is a game mode called WvW which is large scale PvP combat (and land grab).
6. Go into the wardrobe tab of the Hero Panel and select the item you’d like to transmute. Each transmute will cost one transmutation charge. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Transmutation
7. To salvage – Buy a salvage kit from a merchant. Double click it then select the item you’d like to salvage. Please note that gear earned through level up rewards, karma or purchased with badges of honor cannot be salvaged. If you’re interested in crafting then salvaging is a good way to get materials. If you don’t care for that then selling is a good idea.

- There is always something for you if you complete a daily. Do it if you can. If you can do three, you get 10 Achievement Points.
- I cannot say about the PvP, but I can tell you that you can have totally different build for PvP and PvE on the same character.
- Dungeons were meant to be part of the whole story. When you are at a certain point in the Personal Story (if you do that) you get a letter inviting you to a dungeon. These are the Story Mode Dungeons. If you can find a group that takes people who are at the level of the dungeon and does not mind Rangers, it can be a fun thing. It can also be awful in the wrong group.
- PvP gear all have the same stats. Only appearance can be chosen. The very top tier of gearfor PvE (Ascended) is most reliably crafted, but it is not really needed by most players. Many still want it. Exotic is perfectly fine for everything except very high level Fractals.
- No open world PvP. But there is WvW. Try that.
- You have your skins in the wardrobe. To put a skin on any piece you have costs a transmutation charge (which you will have a lot if you PvP). If you outgrow your equipment and get new, you can skin them again for another charge. Or if you get bored with the skin you have, apply another for a charge. There are also skins that can be applied on armor directly. You got those in the chest. If you use them, they will disappear from your inventory, but there is always a copy in the wardrobe. Only first application is free.
- For salvaging you need to buy a salvaging kit from a merchant. Usin it braks the equipment into materials, which can be stored to use for crafting or sold and Essences of Luck. Consuming essence of luck raises your Magic Find.
1) Daily only give you Achievement Points (AP). The only reason to do daily now is if you like to hunt achievement. Another reason would be for Dungeons. Ppl sometime use AP as a way to see if you are a nood or not in dungeon. If you join a dungeon with 1k AP ppl will know that you are new and you will get kick from speed run, or experienced run. If you have 5k+AP you will probably never have this problem.
2) Ranger with Longbow and Greastword is a really good PvP weapon set. And even if that’s not really that good in PvE, it do a decent job. Sword/Axe + Longbow is a better PvE set, but it can be hard to master.
3) If you know ppl or you specify that you are new in the LFG then you can do dungeon when you are low level. But without the stats advantage of being higher level and wihtout any knowledge of dungeon it can be rough. Ppl run these dungeon for the last 2 years. They assume that everybody that join the group will know what to do. If you don’t know and you don’t tell them at the start, some ppl will get angry. A guild is ideal for that.
4) Yes but not for a long time. Your focus should be exotic gear and there is a lot of way to get that (crafting isn’t the best way). Ascended gear is higher than exotic but it’s tricky. Ascended trinkets can’t be crafted, but Ascended Armor and Weapons yes. They both cost a lot of gold and if weapons can help you a bit, Ascended Armor only give you a really small stats bonus. It’s worth it if you want the really best, but you won’t even notice the difference between exotic and ascended armor. You really don’t need to worry about crafting for a long time.
5) No open world PvP. There is sPvP or arena PvP. It’s a 5vs5 pvp with conquest mode. There is also WvW which is kind of a open world PvP. 3 factions fight for a week with castle and camp to capture.
6) Probably the best skinning/reskinning system of all MMO. Everytime you unlock a skin you have it forever and can reskin it to any gear you want. The only restriction is transmutation charge. They can be a challenge for new players in the beginning. You will have only a limited amount. But map completion and PvP will earn a good deal of it. You will always want more at the beginning, but eventually you will earn more of them that you will use and you will accumulate them.
7) Check salvage kit in Wiki. Salvaging is the best solution in most situation. You should salvage everything with basic or crude salvage kit for now. When you reach level 70 it become a bit more complex.
