Hi, I’m a long time mmo play runescape (bad i know), WoW mainly and a little bit of LoL. So far I haven’t entered the game yet but engineer seems like the profession that interests me. I like the idea of the turrets doing damage and what not. As my first character what are your thoughts of me playing an engineer? Are they hard to level with?

Any advice is appreciated.

I’m still leveling my Engineer to 80, he’s only in the mid 40’s now.
Based on what I’ve gained playing it the Engineer can be fun.
Its like you are given a swiss army knife of skills, but no instruction manual sometimes.

Grenades are helpful, the flame thrower is fun to play with as well.
The one problem I had with turrets are you pretty much camp a spot on the map.
If you are playing with a mobile force, like a zerg, or champ farming you won’t use them to their full potential.
Though if you do pick them up, I think it reduces the recharge time somewhat.

Elona, Land of the Golden Sun….and undead…and poison. The travel brochure lied okay?!

The best way to go is with weapon kits, the grenade kit is very strong and good for roaming because you can stay very mobile while throwing your grenades. Turrets are only good if you’re doing a defensive event or you stay at the same position for a longer time, otherwise they won’t be very useful. Engineer is generally a lot more fun to play than other classes but needs more effort than a warrior or a guardian.

Engis are a great soloing class and I think you should have fun with it as a beginner, too. Every class has its strengths and weaknesses, but while you’re still getting familiar with the game you should just try what seems interesting to you.
Leveling usually has less to do with killing endless monsters, and more to do with completing events, exploring the map, and trying different kinds of gameplay.
