Q:

Purchased a new rig; i7 6700, gtx 1070 8MB, and it’ll be upgraded to 32gb RAM once it arrives. I also purchased (2) 27" monitors but am currently only using 1 as the other was DOA.

Now, my graphics don’t seem as smooth. There’s a lot of edges, almost as if there’s an issue with anti-aliasing – checking the Nvidia control panel, they’re exactly as they should be. I’m currently running highest settings possible at a resolution of 1920×1080.

This may be a case of me adjusting to the new set up but I’m wondering if I need a smaller (23" or 24") monitor.

Here’s some screenshots for example. Let me know if I’m being too particular!:

A:

You could try an enhancer like sweetfx, gemfx or reshade to compensate, but if you try to look hard enough, you’re going to notice the stretch when compared to a smaller monitor.

The bigger the monitor, the more the screen is going to be stretched to fill it and the worse it’s going to look. You could try increasing the resolution if supported. 2560×1440 is 27".

It appears I’m at max resolution. Wondering if I should just downsize so I can be completely happy with it!

Run a DirectX9.0c 1080p benchmark and check the picture quality before you do anything – try 3DMark06 (it’s free). If the pics look good to you then it’s the game.
