New to GW2 - Some Questions
1) No mods are allowed in GW2.
2) Tons of stuff – dungeons, fractals, guild missions, world bosses, living story, WvW and Pvp. It sounds like you might be especially interested in these:

3) Exploration is one of the best features of GW2 – look behind waterfalls to find hidden jumping puzzles, fall through a crack in the ice to discover a new zone, complete events to unlock portals into hidden areas, ect. It’s a gorgeous world.
4) Here are the weapons by class:

5) Not sure what you mean by a spellsword, but you might find the Mesmer class interesting.
6) At launch there was over 60 feature films worth of voice acting, they add more with every patch.
7) The gem store sells only vanity or convenience items.
8) You can do them all except for the first Season which was designed a bit differently.
9) There are no quests in GW2, instead you’ll find dynamic events.

10) No way to say, would really depend on how you approach it.

At 1): Are you sure? The addon author said the mod was allowed as it doesn’t really give you an advantage over someone else, actually it can give you a disadvantage apparently. ANet also says that any addon which doesn’t impact others’ experience are allowed.
1) Mods ARE allowed as long as they don’t give you an edge against other players.
I think the mod you mention is allowed.
2) All the content is end game content. The game emphasizes cosmetic rewards over stats, though the highest tier of stat combinations, are hard to acquire.
The dungeons are underplayed and are mostly grinded for gold.
Usually players spend their time in the latest area added to the game (every 2 weeks we get a patch), and grind the latest gear added.
To be safe don’t ignore your daylly quests. They offer some of the best rewards!
From the gear you get, the Berserker stat combination (Zerker for sort) is currently overpowered as it offers the maximum amount of damage and minimum amount of defense, and players are forming zergs with it (groups that mindlessly go and beat whatever boss to a pulp.
3. GW2 is the best MMO for exploration. You can find hiden events, hiden mini dungeons, and hidden jumping puzzles who’ll test your jumping skills to the max.
4. Each class can use many weapons but not all of them. the fewer the weapons each class can use, the more mechanics they have to compensate for that. Engineers and Ellementalist can’t even weapon swap, but the mechanics of each allow them to have the largest amounts of skills available at any given time. The class that can hold the most weapons is the warrior.
5. If you mean Armour and Magic class, the clossest thing is the Guardian that is some sort of Paladin. However you can as easily give daggers to an Elementalist and have very fast magic melee attackers.
6. The Initial Personal Story has the most voice acting, but it was badly delivered.
Seasson 1 was very experimental content, and the story isn’t playable. You’ll have to read it somewhere. 80% of that content was temporary, and we’ve kittened a lot to change it.
Seasson 2 story is playable, as long as you logged in the month it was added. If not, you’ll have buy it from the cash-store, but thankfully it’s cheap.
The story became much better in terms of characters and phasing in later patches, but your own character is no longer voiced.
7. You’ll eventually have to buy some bank space! The one give is very little. You can buy the gems with gold, but the exchange ration is currenly very high. You’ll win some gems every time you complete an achievement milestone, but they’ll be few.
Your best bet is to buy a portion of gems once, to expand once or twice your bank.
The rest of the Gem-store content is pure convenience. Never sells stats.
The other thing I would suggest you to buy is some of those infinite gathering tools, but they aren’t as mandatory.
8. As said in 6…
You have access only to seasson 2, and only the episodes you had logged in at the time are free, in terms of story.
The maps, dungeons, alterations to the world and classes, and general improvements and additions are there for everyone though. You’ll be only missing the story part.
I suggest you complete the existing lackluster personal story. Read the events of Seasson 1, and buy the past episodes of Seasson 2 to come in to terms to what’s going on. It’ll take you some time, that’s for sure!
9. You came in without knowing that?!
There are no traditional quests or quest givers.
There are event’s that happen in the world, (appear in orange text in the oper right corner bellow your story text) and they pretty much change the world. The hearts in the world are pretty much chores you do in low level areas when there is no events going on. Also the event’s scale with the players, and your character scale with the level of the area, so no event is a push-over.
10. Leveling has no curve beyond lvl 20. As much as it takes you to get from lvl 20-21, multiply it by 60, and woala!

I’m sure.
And you’re welcome
1) As long as it doesn’t try to mod the game client and doesn’t give you an edge over other players then it’s usually OK. I can’t use Google, being in China, so can’t search for it effectively (difficult to tell if the search results Baidu come up are relevant). This link may be of help.
2) Large scale pvp is WvWvW, where 3 servers fight each other. Depending on the servers you face, fights can be as small as 5v5, 1v1, 2v2, or as kitten0v50v50. The most heavily populated servers sometimes field 90 man zergs. However, latency usually kicks in and you’ll end up in slideshow mode.
3) Exploration is broken up in to a few things. There is
(a) World exploration – finding waypoints, points of interest, skill points and vistas. This contributes to an exploration title and rewards
(b) Explorer titles – There are regions in every map that do not have any of the above. They nonetheless contribute to an exploration title and some have jumping puzzles, mini dungeons, secret treasures, diving points, mini boss fights, bits of history related to guild wars 1. Entries to these places can be under hidden rock overhangs, shrubs, waterfalls, holes in the ground

5. Mesmer is the closest to a “spell sword”. Weapons have a fixed set of skills that they can use. For example, Warriors, Guardians,Thieves, Rangers and Mesmers can all use swords as main hand or off hand, or both, weapons but they all have a different set of skills tied to them. So for Warriors, main hand swords are focused around bleeding opponents and spike attacks, while an off hand sword is more defensive. In comparison, Rangers can only use sword as main hand weapons and is considered the best single target dps weapon you can use.
6. If you’re talking about in the world NPC, then yes the vast majority, if not all, NPCs have voice acted lines. So when you’re walking through a city, you’ll hear human females speaking about the fashion of a noble they’re interested in while in an asura town you’ll hear them talking about their inventions. If you hang around long enough, you’ll hear a full story chain between the NPC’s. Although the story chains loop, they do give a wonderful sense of environment.
7. As you play, you’ll find that the boosters that you can get from the gem store are only minimal 1 use time limited boosts. They’re not game breaking and most players don’t buy them as you can get them as rewards here and there. I’ve still got loads and barely use them. The rest of the things in the store are cosmetic or account upgrades like extra bank tabs, extra character inventory slots, extra character slots (you start with 5).
8. Anet’s model is to grant all players free access to the Living story chapters during the first 2 weeks of release. Logging in during the release gives you the content for free that you can access thereafter as much as you want whenever you want. If you want to get access to it after the 2 weeks, it costs 200 gems but will release it to all characters on your account permanently. Living story season 1 isn’t available yet.
9. “Quests” are not the traditional ones anymore. In each map there are “Renown hearts” which are part of map exploration. The rest are dynamic events or event chains. Event chains can be immensely fun. One of the biggest event chains spans a whole map. One of the most challenging ones is a long slog across a map escorting NPCs, losing them means you have to restart. Another short chain spawns an Elder Dragon Champion to fight.
10. It depends on class. The heavies will feel easier while the light classes may take longer as you may die more times
Welcome to Guild Wars 2!
I love the ES series! I actually had a Spellsword type of chr in Skyrim. In Guild Wars 2 your closest thing to a Spellsword is a Mesmer ( They are Magical Duelist). They have a trait line in their build menu, called dueling. They are more “FIT” to be a spellsword vs a Guardian. Why? Guardians are more of a Holy warrior/ Warrior who uses magic of protection. Spellblades/swords use an array of magic, mostly magic to harm however.
Which is why Mesmer fits best, Im sure you are familiar with Illusion magic from the ES series. Mesmers are masters of illusion and reality manipulation just to let you know as well. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mesmer
If you want, you can MSG me in game, and I can do my best to help you, Ive been playing GW2 since November of 2012.
Here is my IGN: Ezania Spellblade ~~~ (Im a Mesmer, and I have over a year’s experience in playing one.)
