New to Guild Wars. Any advice?
Yeah, my advice is to avoid the forums lol. People love to complain.
Also, just play it like you are going on an adventure, just roam around and see what happens. If you get it set in your mind that you need to do X-Y-Z to get your next level, you’ll be stuck right back in the leveling loop.
Basically, the entire game is end-game, there’s no need to rush to 80 “where the real game begins.” Your level goes down to the area you are in, so pretty much everything is re-playable.
Enjoy, take your time and smell the roses- welcome to the game

1. Get stuck in! If you have any questions in game, feel free to ask in Map Chat. People are normally more than welcome to respond!
2. Just take it easy, no rush to 80.
3. Learn cross class combos, take time to ‘learn’ your chosen class by just reading skill descriptions etc and with time.
4. Go read my thread too? Operation: UNION has some cool people to just ask questions and hang out with. (Click on the link in my Sig)
5. ENJOY IT! Happy GW2’ing!

Hi all. I have a stupid question. Just started the game and am finding that currency seems to mysteriously disappear, I find stuff sell it habe about 100 gold and after naxt battle i’m down to nothing or maybe 4-6.
Hmm.. 100 copper = 1 silver maybe that’s it?
Traveling by waypoint also saps some money.
Ordering things on TP takes money from you straight away.

And don’t be afraid to explore. If the NPC has a name, chat with them. If you see something interesting from afar, take a closer look.
And if you see a resource node on your map where you’re standing, but can’t find it, it’s above you or under you and looking for it could lead you some place neat. I’m convinced that ANet put those nodes there on purpose to lead you to places… I found the hidden jumping puzzle in Sparkfly Fen that way.
He might start thinking he knows what’s right for you.

If you just started the game it is very unlikely you have 100 gold. It will be more like 100 copper. It isn’t dissapearing, but 100 copper coin = 1 silver coin. To prvent you bulking with small change, the game autmaticly convert is to 1 silver coin.
So lets say you have 98 copper coins. You loot a centaur you killed and get 4 copper coins. After that your inventory would read 1 silver coin, 2 copper coins.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
OP,
As mentioned by a couple above, “Take your time and smell the roses.” Some of the best experiences I’ve had in the game were while leveling/exploring this vast world.
Also from one new GW player to another. If you like lore and have the time head over to GW2wiki and read some of the lore that sets the stage for GW2. In my opinion one of the game’s greatest strengths is all the rich lore established by the first game. GW2 is filled with historical references that may go unnoticed if you don’t have any knowledge of the past. Personally reading the lore really added to the immersion and made my journey through the game feel that much more meaningful. Hope this helps.
Cheers
Join a full server, the game is a lot more fun with a lot of people around.
Thanks for the replies guys! I tried to join Isle of Janthir but the server was just full and remained full =/ So I just went on the Dragon server or something. Still seems like plenty people are around. I really do love lore. I spent like the first few hours just talking to NPC’s and stuff, and by doing that I freaking initiated Dynamic Events (SO COOL!) like where I had to talk down Ash Legion soldiers and stuff.
I plan to take my time and explore each area, because man oh man, GW2 is SERIOUSLY pretty. I can’t help but just explore. I also read the sticky, and learned some valuable stuff!
Glad you’re enjoying it! I’m over 200 hours in and the shine still hasn’t worn off for me, I log in and I still sit there in awe that such a wonderful game exists haha!
get salvage kits and scrap most items. Try to sell them on the trading post but if there are too many or the prices are too cheap. SCRAP IT!!!

This is excellent advice. The OMG sticky is amazing. I had a few hours logged before I noticed it and there are tons of good little tips and tricks for settings etc that are really helpful!
