New to MMO's
Take your time AND read everything. Crafting for example, talk to the trainers and they will explain how it works. Don’t rush to max level, just enjoy the game for what it is – an mmoRPG
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
Explore the game world. If you get stuck somewhere ask in map chat, for help or what you should do. People are usually helpful in GW2. Try all the professions until you find something that works for you. Check the guild recruitment forum to see if there is a guild that interests you. You can make pretty good income by harvesting copper and logs to sell at the trading post. At low levels it is usually a good idea to use 4 power runes and a sigil of bloodlust.
Yarr! I be keeping me pirate runes, Matey. Yarr! You’re welcome. Yarr!
Message me ingame and we can discuss pretty much everything about how to gear yourself up, craft, level andplay effectively in GW2.
Taking a break from GW2 to play various

That link need to be your best friend for a while, even in game if you type “/wiki <thing you want to know>” it will redirect you to the wiki page about the thing you want to know.
Also try to look for a guild that are willing to accept new players (there are plenty of guilds that do) and the members there will sure help you with any doubt and give tips.
If you later have any more specific doubts post here in the forum.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Sometimes I think not having played MMOs before gives you an advantage in this game, because although there are similarities it’s also quite different in some ways and that seems to catch people out.
The best approach is just to treat it like a totally new game, pay attention to what you’re being told by the UI and NPCs and you’ll probably have an easier time learning it than if you go in assuming it works just like something you’ve played before and you already know what to do.
And if you don’t know something ask. Either in map chat, your guild if you join one, here on the forum or try searching the wiki. Most people are pretty nice and willing to answer questions.

Read the player sticky threads at the top of this board. The OMG one is full of useful tips.
