So i just got the game after the trial weekend and a friend said i should play on maguuma with him, but its been a full week now and I’ve only seen him in game once, i feel like i made a mistake somehow in choosing this server as i can never find world event groups. is there a way to see how populated a server is ? tl:dr which server has the most ACTIVE players

While it’s no where close to an exact science, I’d take a look at the World vs World forum on this site and check the latest stickied post from the WvW dev. Every couple of weeks, they update the master list of the top servers for WvW. While these charts mainly show the end game populations, the higher ranked servers tend to be more populated.

As a general answer, I know that the RP server called Tarnished Coast tends to have a lot of players making low level alt characters. That might be a decent choice for you. At every week, you can designate x2 servers as your Guesting servers. Through the Guesting system, you could still play on Maguuma with your pal and then you could also log into other servers using the Guest feature to experience low level content in servers like Tarnished Coast.

My own server is Fergusson’s Crossing. We’re on the bottom rung for WvW, but I love the general atmosphere of the 80th player base. However at the same time, I don’t run into a lot of other players when I make a low level alt. It’s a trade off that I’ve accept since I’ve put down roots here, but I probably wouldn’t suggest FC to a new player since it wouldn’t be the best environment for them.

I am on Tarnished Coast and I can confirm the lower starter areas of Queensdale (Human) and Wayfarer Foothills (Norn) usually have a good amount of lower level population. They also are good at calling out Dynamic Events that are in progress so you can find them easier.

The other starting zones are probably just as lively and helpful, I am just not in them as often.

After the starting areas, though, the population does thin out even on a high population server like ours.

Sorry to sound like a total nugget Mala, but when you say ‘calling out’ Dynamic events do you mean just putting something in the map chat window or something else?

Yep, that’s what’s meant. A lot of people on Tarnished Coast will call out the big, or most popular events in a zone, by typing that it’s up in map chat.

At every week, you can designate x2 servers as your Guesting servers.

You can change the server you are guesting on every 24 hours not every week.

well you can call your friend up. or you can transfer to #1 server jade quarry.
