Hey guys, so I’ve been really bored lately…decided to give GW2 another try after dropping it about 2 days after launch. Anyway, I bought HoT and got an instant 80. Basically I only PvP, so I’m not worried about missing out on PvE content from the leveling process. I googled the worst PvP class for 2016, it came up with guardian so I made a guardian. But, all the builds I’ve looked around use the LongBow and the elite specialization, utilizing Traps it looks like. But I need something called Hero Points, and I don’t think I acquired any of these from the boost.

Does anyone know where I should start for grinding these points out? Is there an easy way at 80, or am I doing a lot of backtracking for them.

Thanks for any help!

When you say PvP do you mean structured PvP or World vs World?

Because for structured PvP all your skills and traits are unlocked automatically so you don’t need hero points to use the elite specialisation. You just need to click on the PvP Build button at the top of the screen and change it to the ones you want to use.

If you mean World vs World then the best thing to do is find another build you can use for now and periodically use the Proof of Heroics which you will earn from rank up chests to buy a Notarized Scroll of Maguuma Heroics, which gives you 10 Hero Points.

Best bet would be to go trough the HoT maps, there are ‘challenges’ there (marked by a green icon) and doing them rewards 10 hero points; if you need more or find them too difficult (since most of the HoT ones are group-based) You can do the same in central Tyria!

oh I didn’t realize you didn’t require them for the instanced PvP, that’s fantastic. I’d love to get involved with the WvW PvP, but it seems like it’d be hard without an established group, like guild groups or something.

Well in WvW you can roam or pug zerg or guild zerg.

Roam can be in a small team or solo. You basically roam the map in search of same unfortunate target like a hunter. You will be able to find solo target, but most good roamer want to 1 vs 2 or 3 because they usually have specialized pvp killer build, while most WvWers either use version of their PvE build or zerg build not that great in small fight.

You can also pug Zerg just by finding a tag on the map. It will depend on which server you are and what match up you are doing.

For the last one, ya you gonna need a group, but you usually already have some experience in either roaming or pug zerging before you go into these group.

And as you rank up in WvW you get Proof of Heroics that you can exchange for Hero Points. So you can unlock everything just by doing WvW. But to be honest, you follow a guide from Dulfy and you will get all your Hero Point super fast in HoT maps.

It depends on what your goal would be with wvw. But to start with you can always roam on your own, or join the pug commander on the map which usually are a blue tag. If there are no com om the map you can always go to your home border map and defend camps/towers/keeps until one shows up. Be aware of that builds in s-pvp and builds in wvw do not always work that well so make sure you have gear and build for wvw when you go there.

Whilst you do wvw you get Proof of Heroics which you can “buy” hero points for inside of wvw and by that get your elite specialization done. You will also get badges of honor that you can buy exotic gear for, and the reward track will also get your exotic gear and weapons.

If you find out that wvw seem to be your thing and you want to do more and be more involved then looking for a wvw guild that raids is a good next step. Which guild you want to join you have all the time to consider whilst you play inside of wvw since you see them and their member on the map.
