Guild Wars 2

Hello fellow gamers!

I’m a new player who has recently acquired the game and I’m looking for the class that best suits me.

To start with, I’ve been reading here and there and from what I saw is that warriors are the classy OP class that excel at everything and they don’t require too much skill, thief are the classy 1v1’ers that just die from almost anything because they are squishy and yet they require a somewhat but not high level of skill, mesmer/ spirit rangers are also 2 classes which do require some skill but they are not as rewarding as any the other 2 above mentioned classes would be.

Now what I’m looking for is a high skill cap class ( by skill cap I mean the higher the skill level -> the higher the reward, not how hard is to play the class which anyone can do but it only takes a while) and is not very op. I would like a class that could do insane burst at the cost of low survivability or a class that could do constant dps but survive a lot ( even surviving I want it to be skill cap based, so this doesn’t mean lame 70% heals or instant stealth or some lame kitten ).

Thing is, I don’t look for an op class, but a class that once mastered can deal more dmg than a very good op class player. Also, I’m considering more 1v1s arenas and such more than wvwvw performance but I want that class to be good in wvwvw as well ( but please don’t just say thief based on this phrase ) .

Please do keep in mind the fact that I’m looking for a high skill cap class and it doesn’t matter whether you need to be experienced to be able to play the class, I’ll adapt and learn in time.

A lot of well played classes can do more damage than warrior, it is just the mindset that they are the best at everything.
I am not sure what you mean by reward in you OP.
Elementalist may be what you are looking for.
You have 5 free slots to create and destroy, play/target dummy in sPvP as you get all stats to 80 and see what you can do.
Just run around the starter zones with each type you may be interested in to get an idea of weapons against PvE mobs.

Firstly, I want to make it clear that Warrior does not do the most damage. They are beaten by a Thief, Mesmer, Ele & average around the same as a Guardian. Their solo DPS, however, is incredible due to Forceful Greatsword trait.

Skill cap will depend on your content aim. I personally play a mix of Engineer/Ele in PvP for their skill curves, but for PvE Guardian is absolutely the most difficult with their mix of lowest health pool and having to give all “selfish” things up for team support to be of any real use. Contrary to belief, an Ele has a really low skill cap in PvE as the best builds involve a very small rotation to stack boons, or just pressing “2” to spam Lava Font.

I would reccomend elementalist

Its rly hard to decide. I’ve been playing since start and always wanted to play mesmer. Created one and dropped it after 2hours. Dont ask, just play them. You can check on WvW or PvP on lvl 1/2. then delete characters.
