Guild Wars 2

Hi,
I just bought the game and while I have limited experiences of MMO’s (100 hours on LOTRO) I do know my way around them. That being said, are there any things I should know about guild wars? What characters to create and such? Alo is there anyone else starting new who wants to play?

hey,

firstly, welcome. there isnt a whole lot you need to know about guild wars starting off. anything you do want to know just ask in game, most people will be happy to help. for a player starting off most would recommend a warrior, that said, play whatever character you like the look of, race doesnt really matter to the gameplay.
if youre looking for other new players in game there is a ‘looking for group’ tool in the game that you can put something along the lines of ‘new player, looking for other new players’ and im sure youll have a group in no time.

They offer some pretty good advice for the game (although I think some of it maybe a little out of date). Possibly the best advice I could offer is get used to moving whilst in combat and learn to dodge.

With regards to characters and classes then there are no restrictions. Pick a class and race combo you like the look of and go with it. Each Race does have it’s own racial abilities but generally class abilities are better.

People pointed out some good points ahead of me so all I can really add is to just play around with races and classes to see what you like best, as all the classes and races are excellent and there’s a lot of wiggle room to be able to figure out your playing niche.

In most cases the community here is lovely and people are happy to help out (the few people that aren’t so helpful can easily be ignored) and don’t be scared to ask something if you don’t know or need a hand.

I play on an NA server but on many maps server doesn’t really matter as they’re grouped together (with the exception of NA and EU servers). If you need a hand or have questions, you can always add me to your friends list and give a poke if I’m on
