Newbie Help Needed
1. You only need 5 items from your daily, not all of them pick and choose – most items in the list are the ones that you can do in PVE anyway. For example today I did
Daily kill variety (kill 13 different enemies)
Ascalon Veteran Slayer (go to Plains of Ashford (charr starting zone) and kill 3 veterans). If you’re Asura you know where Rata Sum is, right? Go there, find a portal to Lion’s Arch (it’s the main city), portal to Black Citadel (Charr starting city) and exit into Plains of Ashford
Daily Gatherer
Daily Feast (buy 25 pieces of cheap food and eat it)
Daily Group event completer. (you need to complete 2 group events.) (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Metrica_Province wiki page lists all events that ever go on in Metrica Province (I assume that that’s where you leveled your Asura warrior)) The giant Ooze one and Mark 1 golem are up pretty frequently. Metrica Province also has one of the meta events that is the fire Elemental. It normally happens in the Thaumanova reactor. It happens pretty frequently. http://us.gw2stuff.com/ this site keeps track of meta events. Choose your server and you should be able to see whether it’s up or not. Normally people also call out on the map chat when the event starts.
You can also do Mystic Forgesmith (throw 20 things into the mystic forge. Mystic forge is located in the middle of Lion’s Arch. If you don’t have random blues that you can allow yourself to throw into there, walk to a heart that you already did in a starter zone, talk with the NPC with the heart and buy 20 pieces of low level cheap karma items.) and Personal Story Step Completer (complete one personal story step).
To select which 5 daily items you want to do press H, go to achievements tab, check your daily and check 5 items that you want to do. Now they will be tracked at the right side of your screen. After you completed all the daily items, press H again, go back to the achievements, go back to the daily tab and simply uncheck what you checked before.
2. I’m on a very populated server (Underworld) so I see guild advertisements in starter areas all the time, but just in case you’re on a lower population server at peak time go to Lion’s Arch and say on the map chat “I would like to join a guild, could anyone invite me into one?”.

Hello Mitra,
Thank you for your response!
1. That makes a lot more sense, I’ve always seen the ‘Ascalon Veteran Slayer’ (for example) in the daily viewer thing, but it never explained what or where ‘Ascalon’ was.
How would I find out the locations? I’ve always assumed that the special named places were for higher levels! Are Dailys based on level or generic throughout?
2. Great idea, i’ll try that. Although I a, quite new and I find that most guilds use some kind of weird abbreviated talk that I don’t understand atall, such as: ‘GGB 4 322G’, that was made up, but i’m sure you know what I mean.
I like to take my time and enjoy a game, not just charge at everything non-stop, which it seems most guilds do.
Dailies are generic throughout. You should be able to hover over Ascalon Veteran Slayer and see in which zones you should kill the veterans in. Normally Tyria is divided into a few regions. These regions appear in the veteran slayer achievements:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascalon
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Kryta
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Maguuma_Jungle
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shiverpeak_Mountains
All of these areas have at least one starter area in them, so no matter how low level you are, you should be able to do the daily
If you go into the achievement panel and point to the ascalon killer or shiverpeake veteran slayer, it will pop up all the zones that qualify, so you can check without leaving the game.
Have fun!
One of the weird abbreviations used in a guild advert will probably be their tag, which is usually (but not always) an abbreviation of their name. For example if I was advertising for my solo guild for some reason I might start with “To the Glorious Lonely [TTGL] are looking for new members!”, or I might just say “TTGL LF members!”
A lot of players want to know what the tag is because it shows after your name to everyone else in the game, and because for that reason it’s often how people recognise good (and bad) guilds.
They might also use: LF – looking for, PvP – player vs. player, PvE – player vs. environment, WvW – world vs. world (3 different game types which the guild might focus on) 400+ppl – how many members they have (number varies obviously).
If you think you might be interested but aren’t sure about something they said you can always ask. How they answer is a good indication of whether they’re a guild you’d want to spend time with or not.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
The areas are Maguuma (all the jungle areas — Asura/Sylvari starting areas, Sparkfly Fen, Mount Maelstrom), Kryta (the human lands — Queensdale, Harathi, Gendarren, Bloodtide, Kessex, etc), Ascalon (Charr areas), and Shiverpeaks (snowy Norn lands including Frostgorge). If you bring up your map and scroll out a bit you can see them by color. Jungle greens for Maguuma, farm greens for Kryta, browns for Ascalon, and white for Shiverpeaks.

Those regions are also relevant for harvesting herbs. Same node name but different region can mean different results.
Oh and someone else suggested this but you can buy http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rice_Ball on ‘Karma Spender’ day then eat them on ‘Daily Feast’ day.

Took me a while to figure out what you meant, but that’s a pretty neat idea.
I am also still a little bit of newbie, although I learned a lot. I just play not to much to not get addicted. Dailies exist of 5 achievements, wich you can view in the panel. Also, if you are looking for a guild, you can join mine if you want Our name is The Heroes Of Fantasy and we are still building up. I am planning to do a lot in my summervacation (wich starts at the 7th of July), and you are welcome to join.
