Okay so I have been playing for about a week now, and I have been absent from MMO’s since pre-bc WoW days. So right now I’m level 10, and wondering how to acquire decent early-game items. Should i stay with these greys? If not where/how do i get a better weapon and armor?

Sorry if this wasn’t posted in the right section. Thanks for the help though.

Try the ‘Trading Post’, you can narrow the search to only level 10 items, and then onto rarity.
Other than that, completing heart quests usually turn the NPC into a Vendor who sells some nice low level (but good) items.

Try crafting. You get XP for it, plus you can make some pretty decent on-level gear.

I would stick with blues and greens (greens being better), but I wouldn’t waste money on getting green weapons since you’ll be leveling up fairly quickly.
I think it’s Grey<White<Blue<Green

Okay, also when you say crafting is that one single prof (don’t know what they’re called in this game) or does it break down into heavy – light armor?

And when everyone is talking about Conditions they are basically DoTs correct?

There’s one crafting discipline for every type of armor (light, medium and heavy). Also the weapons crafting are broken into categories.

I can’t list them from the top of my mind tho.

You can have only two disciplines active at any one given time, but you can change them for a small fee and you won’t loose the progress you’ve made.

I’m level 22 now and most of my gear was created by myself.

Boons = buffs
Conditions = debuffs (not only DoTs, but also slow, confusion, etc).

Okay awesome, what the deal with Karma? Really don’t understand it.

Karma is a kind of currency that you get by participating in events and can be changed for items on some NPCs.

Think of it as recognition that you get for doing good deeds.

Okay, and PvP. Is there any PvP at your current level or is it all skill based at level 80?

You can do PVP at any level, you character will automatically be lvl 80 when you join a PVP game and scale back when you return to PVE.

The difference is in World vs. World PVP (aka WvW) you only have the skills that you already unlocked and in structured PVP (aka SPVP) you get all the skills of your class to choose from.

Wow Calavera, thank you! So one more thing, do they have any endgame Dungeons? If not what is the main thing to do at 80?

What about enchantments? Is that wrapped into crafting as well? I heard you unlocked boxes by using crafting, is that correct?

There are storage boxes and bags you can craft which increase how many items you can hold or even automatically place certain items in them.
For example Oiled bags tend to collect ‘junk’ items as you loot bodies where invisible bags hide your items from the sales window as you talk with merchants.

Enhancements can be crafted. Jewelers can embellish some gems which you can attach to weapons and such for boost in stats.

Elona, Land of the Golden Sun….and undead…and poison. The travel brochure lied okay?!
