Newbie question from... well, a newbie.
If it’s anything like pre-80, the loot you get will be equivalent to where you ran it.
So, if you did a DE in Queensland, you’d get beginner loot.
My basis is that I’m 45, did an event that was 36, and I got loot that was around that level, including a level 35 blue gun.
I’ve experienced that the loot stays a little below your level. I was around lvl 30 in a lvl 4 area and still got around 25-30 lvl items.
Although I heard that this is now changed due massive farming in low level areas.
See, this is what is bugging me also.
I’m lvl 53, was in some 15-30 zone 2 days ago, and a rare (is that yellow?) lvl 52 dropped from a spider for me (and a couple of greens that were lvl 50-53). The rest of the drops were lvl 14-18 (depending on where they dropped)… so, my question is;
What is the deal with this?
What drops should I expect?

this is actually a good question.
There has been a couple times I’ve gotten the area level drops, but mostly I get around my level drops. I’ve gotten lvl 28 green items off of a level 8 spider for instance.
How it’s supposed to work is you get your actual level relevant drops, perhaps some areas are just a little bugged.
From what I’ve seen it’s sort of both. The crafting drops — tiny claws, weak blood, garment scraps — are all area appropriate, while magic drops are level appropriate. White drops seem to be both. I never pay attention to how many coins drop though, so I don’t know about those, but I would expect they are area appropriate.

I think they mix it for crafting purposes, as a LW most of the leather i get is from DEing crappy leather items so if i need to farm leather i have to go to a low level zone and kill centaurs for ever and DE the low level drops.
(I’m gonna call it DEing because i came from WoW)
You get a mix of drop levels when you level down to a zone. My level 80 character typically gets drops all the way up to mid-70s gear, no matter where I am, but it’s mixed in with stuff that’s more level appropriate. I’ve actually started collecting some mats for my post-400 crafting disciplines this way.
But you won’t get anywhere near the consistency of running a zone that’s at your level. The down-leveled drops are just a little reward for being in low level zones. They aren’t supposed to match those of your nominal level. Basically, if you want the better gear, work for it where it’s meant to drop, not where you can burn through mobs without any concern for your safety.

Thank you for the answer
