Hey Guys,

Recently returned and working my way through the end of living story season two, been running around drytop and silverwastes exploring, trying to figure out the events and what to go for, and the only thing I don’t seem to have a handle on, is the Mordrem Vinewrath event. I know you can get a coat from it and its tied into some collection tracks for luminescent gear, and its triggered at the end of a meta event, but that event never seems to pop.

Playing on Jade Quarry, everytime I head to the silverwastes, while spending a couple of hours running around, I see we get 4/4 forts owned but we never get past 2 or 3/4 “first level defenses activated”. Basically, I have no clue what happens after the ‘foothold’ part of the event, what the ‘breach’ event is, or how to get to the mordrem vinewrath event.

I know guesting is pretty much not needed now because of the mega-servers, but is it as simple as going to LFG and seeing what groups and maps might have high percentages complete? What do you look for? I tried joining one group that said “@ vinewrath” figuring they were about to get there, joined the group, tried to go to their map when I clicked on the leader and it told me the world was full.

Is it just persistence or am I missing something on how to find maps where they’re progressing through the events? Even if I did it just once would love to see it and complete it for the first time rewards.

Any tips would be awesome, thank you.

Here’s how the Silverwastes meta-event works:

1. The bar effectively represents a “progress to Breach”. The bar moves up each time a Fort is captured or defended (with defense progressing it a lot more).

2. Once the bar is full, the Breach event starts. Four holes appear beneath the 4 Forts, each one housing a powerful Champion of Mordremoth. The map now has 5 mins in which to slay all the Champions.

3. Once the Breach is over, regardless of whether or not it was successful (all 5 Champs slain), the Vinewrath event begins. You have 3 mins from the end of the Breach to get to the Vinewrath staging area and make preparations.

4. After the Vinewrath event is over, regardless of whether or not it was successful, the Labyrinth event begins. It lasts for 10 mins, I believe.

5. After the Labyrinth event is over, the entire meta-event restarts from Step 1.

So basically, if you’re looking to take part in the Vinewrath event, just join maps (via the LFG tool) that advertise as “SW XX%”. The higher the , the closer it is towards the Breach event. Usually once the % is 50 or higher, the map ends up being full, so it’s best to get in early and then help out.

That explains perfectly what I was looking for and is pretty much how I had THOUGHT that it went doing what research I could. Clear and concise, and gives me something to look forward to on how to do it, so here’s to going and jumping in and getting it done! Thank you so much for the breakdown.

I personally wouldn’t recommend people to join 50%+ maps, if everyone would do it there would be noone pushing 0% maps to 50%
You get a lot of materials from doing those events, aswell so it’s always worth doing as many events as possible.

Also:

see we get 4/4 forts owned but we never get past 2 or 3/4 “first level defenses activated”.

That happens when you either keep losing a fort (and reclaim it) or when you have no players escorting dolyaks that carry supplies for the ugprades.

Best explanation if I ever saw one, GG!

Sharpen your justice. Dust off resolve. Brace your courage. The Guardian dragonhunter approaches.

I remember running around Silverwastes for the first time, I was scared because I was a new guy on territory people knew, I helped blue base a couple of times.

I eventually learned where all the others where and still had no idea what to do, thinking the defense events was all there was……suddenly “The Breach is open” and a giant hole appeared….as you do I jumped in without thinking.

Then that was done and some massive red ring appeared, I stuck around and just followed the zerg into the boss.

Basically I stumbled into the events and now I know what to do.

Stick around on the map for a few hours, tell people where to go, where you need help or to get the supply trains, eventually you’ll get 3/4 forts held and people will start asking for taxi’s.

You can have 4/4 forts held for ages because at that point its supply bulls and defense that increases the bar, those take effort and extra peeps escorting.

You guys are awesome and I appreciate it! I finally got it done once last night joining a map as suggested right before the breach, then did it twice more later helping from beginning to end once I had my feet wet ankitten ow having a blast running around, exploring, and looting everything. I realized last night the power of taking the time to do the escorts, makes that bar rise up really fast then the rest just felt like a loot train through the breach and the event.

Thanks again for the tips guys, though one more question.

I managed to get every piece of carapace armor for my guardian (yay!) simply through completing the entirety of the living story and a glove box out of a bandit chest, I was curious, if I take an alt through season 2 of the living story do they get all the rewards that my first toon did?

Yes, you can redo Episodes 5 to 8 for their respective pieces on another toon to receive the box and choose a new weight. For example, you can redo episode 5 three times for light / medium and heavy. Only 2 pieces must be acquired in Silverwastes via drops or bandit crests if you’re not into that.

I edited my post as a sentence didn’t explain it well enough. There’s also 1 piece (I think gloves) that you get 1 free with achievements. For the rest, I suggest to do events and Vinewrath when you can. The coat easily drops (20% chance) at the end, then you would only need 2000 Bandit crests and 2 gold to finish it up.

Makes total sense so I’ll be looking to run my alt through, just a few vinewrath events tonight I already have two boxes ready to go for the alt and a little over 1k crests so I should be able to get the set easily enough.

You guys are awesome and I’m having a blast and am glad that I’ve returned. Now to find a fun guild!

One note, the Carapace piece from Episode 6 will not drop again when you replay it with a different character, as it’s part of the episode completion achievement (only awarded once per account) rather than from the final story instance reward as the other three episodes give.

On the other hand, Episode 6 gives a Black Lion Key as a reward for episode completion, so you certainly might find that to still be a worthwhile prize for your alternate characters!
