Guild Wars 2

Hi fellow gw2-player

I recently came back to guild wars 2 after a 1year break and I felt a bit overwhelmed on what happened during my break.
I’ve heard about the new expansion “Heart of Thorns” and beside that, various events occured and changed tyria.

Can you help me and filter out on what topic I should consider gathering information about? I don’t ask for updates itself although they are appreciated. I ask for topic suggestion on what I should focus my research for updates. Were there any game changing updates on classes, races and gear? Are there new content out there to enjoy? Any updates on the lore of guild wars 2? Where do I start in-game to pick up the story again?

The last changes I remember were the ascended weapons, the refugees on the kraka island and the part with scarlet and her attempt to destroy us.
I would be glad if I got any hints on what changed so I can get on refreshing my knowledge.
