Hi all, “new” player(well, haven’t played in a long time) here. I created a new character and have been having a lot of fun, but just ran into a wall. I’m playing a guardian and am doing the mission where you infiltrate a cave of robbers, and the first mission objective I have to complete is to kill the lizards infesting the pool in the cave. My problem is that some of these lizards are under water, and I cannot attack them or pull them out of the pool, so I have no way to complete the objective. Any suggestions? Thanks!

You can go underwater to attack them yourself, just make sure you have a trident or spear available first.

Usually, if you just jump in the water, they’ll follow you back out.

Underwater combat unlocks at level 8. This can be a problem if you are a lower level than that. At level 8 you will get basic gear to do underwater combat.

So yes, if you can’t fight underwater yet you can either go off and do some other stuff until you are level 8 or do as suggested and pull the critters, by getting attacked and then head back to land.

If it’s the mission I’m thinking of (human level 10 story mission) then you don’t actually need to kill the drakes, what you want is to interact with the chest past them to get fuses, which can be done without killing a single drake.

There are actually two personal story missions, both involving bandits in the same hideout. The one the OP is talking about is one where you have to do three (I think) tasks for random bandits (you enter this instance from the side with the water instead of behind the cemetary). One of those tasks is killing drakes that are in the water under the bridge.

Ok, in that case you can maybe buy underwater weapons at an NPC or at the TP.
I think (but am not 100% sure) that you can use underwater weapons still at
level 2 .. you only don’t get one now on a new character, so you need to buy one
if you want to use it earlier.

You get your first underwater weapon at level 8 from the level up rewards (and the first skill at the same time) and you cannot do the story until level 10. So not being able to fight underwater shouldn’t be a problem.

You should be able to just swim to them and fight them (you have to be underwater to fight, not on the surface), or swim close enough that they attack you and then head back to the shore and fight them there.

It’s hard to know from your post what the problem is, but if you can be a bit more specific we can probably work it out. Are you not able to reach them? Do your underwater skills not appear? Do they not affect the lizards? Do the lizards attack you? Do they follow you as you swim away?
