Guild Wars 2

Currently have a warrior which I enjoy, but wish to level an alt exclusively with a friend (the alt will never see solo action).

He intends to play a norn elementalist, i’m going to go norn with him. checked the class forums, and everyone whines they are underpowered.

Interested in good synergy and also taking recommendations for professions (warrior is weaponsmith/armorsmith

Eles have quite alot of Combo Fields so if you’re looking for combo synergy something like a Guardian or maybe a melee Ranger would be a good fit

Ele’s are NOT underpowered. The main problem is that many people see it as a mage kind of nuker where the tank is getting 99% of the damage, and the 1% you do get is healed by a dedicated healer, They stand in one spot all the time when fighting and are surprised they are killed easily. So to all the ele’s out there I would like to say: Don’t be a turret, we got engineers to put those down. (btw I am one and had to learn to play it the right way too)

Now back on topic. If your friend is following the above advise, actually any profession is good. Although the playing style of most classes are very different in my opinion there is no direct synergy between two profession, specially when you are teaming up all the time and playing together. My advise is to go to the wiki and read bout the different professions and see what you like.

I’m probably going to take a Charr and walk over to the norn area, mainly because the racials are way cooler.

Not sure how similar guardian is to warrior, but it does seem a strong bet. I was looking at a Necromancer or Ranger. They seem fun.

Professionwise: still clueless, but i imagine between the 2 of us we will have artificer, tailor, cook and jewels.

I’d recommend a Guardian or Ranger too. You get combo finishers for the numerous ones your ele friend is going to drop. Ranger has an extra meat shield to help your buddy stay alive. Guardian is very supportive with a lot of boons, blocks & heals, keeping the 2 of you alive & buffed longer.
