So i recently hit 50 on my mesmer but im not sure where to go from here, early on i did events but more and more frequently im noticing that there is no one in the zones to help and that I cant do them on my own. Its pretty disheartening

What would be good places or ways that I could progress or am I pretty much screwed

definitely not screwed. and remain steadfast in your heart!!

i will agree that the low-level zones are quite empty now. which is sad, because the world is beautiful. a few ways to go about this:

  • go to ther zones, even lower level zones, and just map complete. this will help with 100% map completion, as well as see the rest of the world, and you’ll gain levels. when you feel ready, you can tackle the current areas you left
  • crafting gives levels as well! from 1 – 400 of any given profession, you will gain 10 levels.
  • if you can’t tackle the events on said map, you can just go for other items, since pretty much everything you do gives you experience. you can always call out on /m map to see if anyone on the map can come help you. usually, save the big events, most can be done with 2 – 3 people.

cooking and jewelcrafting are rather cheap if you have spent time collecting ingredients as you have been leveling …. and it it rather easy to sell of the lvl 400 jewelry to take care of some of the cost of buying ores/ectoplasm

How much varies by profession, there might be more info on that you can find with a web search.

There are a lot of Guilds that will give you the Mats you need. If you are already in one ask for advice in Guild Chat (don’t just join a Guild and start asking for Mats, some might even kick you from the Guild if you do so).

You could always use Mats you have gathered or go back to farm low level areas. Farming takes time though so you will miss out on other ways of levelling. It won’t get you to 400 but it will help a bit.

Learning is cheaper the lower level you are in crafting. You can have two professions at a time so maybe level those two up but not as far as 400. I have a level 20 that went to 24 through crafting, he is about 200 in crafting as an Armourer and less in something else from memory.

Remember too that there is no such thing as bad XP. Even if you can only manage to get to 100 it doesnt take long and it does give at least some XP.

Go to the north (Lowland Burns) of Blazeridge Steppes and repeat the Dragon Slaying Event there (The Shatterer) as often as you can, I don’t know the XP exactly but it is hard to die when doing it and it’s a level 50 Event I think, check http://guildwarstemple.com/dragontimer to find out when the Event will start. Always well attended.

You could also try the Ascolonian Catacombs Dungeon (AC) in Plains of Ashford. Loads of XP there and the things you can trade for with the tokens you get are good at high level, you might feel it a bit early to start farming those tokens but it does take time to get enough so go try it.

Warrior level 80, Guardian level 80, Ranger level 80, Thief level 80, Elementalist level 60

Crafting gives exp based on your level.
Four disciplines to 200 = 12 levels.
One discipline to 400 = 10 levels.

At first glance, it seems a better idea to get all the way to 400 to level. However, it is significantly easier, faster, and cheaper to level four disciplines to 200 than it is to level one of them to 400.

And, if you’re farming the lower level materials for your crafting, you’re gaining experience from gathering, and you can also wrap up world completion in all the low level zones.

Also, don’t forget to do your daily achievement, as that gives you 42% of a level, not counting any of the things you did to actually complete it.

Explore cities if you haven’t already. At 10% of a character level per city completed, I save city completion to make one of those stubborn levels.

And last, but certainly not least: Dungeons. A dungeon will almost always give you one level.
