I am looking for a mesmer to help me get the Obsidian Sanctum JP, on Ehmry Bay server.

I’m on Ferguson’s Crossing (fighting your server this week) and I wouldn’t mind showing you the way, unfortunately I wouldn’t be able to port you up. Feel free to whisper me in game as a last resort.

Did you try to ask on your wvw map chat? Specially with the meta achievement going on, it is certain to be plenty of people willing to do the jp with you, so it would be natural if a couple would be Mesmers. Personally i was lucky because there were no enemies around and i did party up with a Me which increased the speed of the thing. I did fall a couple times.

If you can’t finish the JP without a portal you don’t deserve the achievement. Plain and simple.

I wouldn’t go that far, specially because there are more characters that have ways to ‘cheat’ their way thru JPs, but i must agree that for Jumping purposes Mesmer’s Portal is OP.

Ahhh, Obsidian Sanctum…
I had an amazing run there on Saturday – with players of all 3 worlds helping each other out (by showing the way and not killing each other). It was still really long and challenging (bloody frustrating pitch black darkness), but if felt oh so good when we finally reached the top
I wouldn’t want to miss that feeling. Particularly since it was much more gratifying than the loot
(Tip: Bring stability.)

Also, what meta-achievement?

Hehe, took me almost a week and many attempts to do it alone with all teh fighting and ganking going on now with the meta achievement!

In the end I got lucky and stumbled on a massive 3 way battle by the waypoints that concentrated all 3 servers in combat near entrance (effectively preventing anyone from continuing the puzzle) and then slipped by to finish jp with only a few gankers hidden in the dark to worry about. After they died by my sword they also got tangled in the battle and I finished JP.

Plus I got a big chunk for my 300 kills achievement!

One nice thing about being an Oceanic player on a NA server, I guess. Obsidian Sanctum is almost always dead empty during our night times.

There are a few spots where you can take a nice shortcut with warrior sword #2, engineer gun jump etc. Mesmer Portal however doesn’t help the mesmer him/herself at all.

It’s a challenging JP before you get the routine up, but it’s also very forgiving since you can’t really die unless killed by another player and there are “checkpoints” where you cannot lose progress without dying.

My bottom line is, without player interference this JP is quite doable with some practice and patience. There should be zero reason for anyone to “cheat” through it. Of course, some people still do because they feel they deserve the achievement when they really don’t. Entitlement is the word of the day in MMOs.

Zaxares.5419 @ Pretty much my case, but i’ve seen videos where players ignore the others, which i find pretty cool! Regardless not having to worry about enemies makes it quite easier.

The difference is that with the Not So Secret you can blunder and fall down to your death when you’re 90% done, resetting you back to the beginning (and I mean really beginning, as in the nearest waypoint outside the whole puzzle).

With OS you have regular “checkpoints” and you have to do some weird jumping to actually die from falls there.
