So, I do have one fairly important question, since I recently decided, that going for my legendary could be a good idea.

I have a general plan on how to get the stuff done, although I’m not sure how I should get the Obsidian-Shards, since you can get one through trading in “15 Fractal Relics” in Dessa’s Lab.

While I plan on doing both, I’m not sure which one I should focus on.
Would I get done faster by doing the Fractals or just farming Karma?

I suggest you proceed to just farming karma for your Obsidian Shards. On average you can probably afford 1 Obsidian Shard every 30 minutes of farming karma. For Fractals, an average run can probably take an hour before you can afford get 1.

Fractals farm rapidly as you go deeper. Yes, each full run can take an hour. But if you do a few back to back, you’ll be at 10 – 12 in no time.

I’m not sure if it’s each even level, but at 10/12 you get an extra chest for completion each day.

So while I’d agree, farming Fractals diff 1 isn’t smart, but getting to 10 or to 12, then refarming can rapidly generate a fractals collection.

Fractals are a bit faster, far more interesting and more profitable. Although, with +15%, +5%, +50% karma bonuses you certainly can farm karma doing events faster.

The thing is, there’s not much else you can do with karma at the moment, and unlike the dungeon tokens, it’s effectively account-bound with a cap. If you do the dailies anyway, then you have karma coming in with no good place to spend it. There are probably more things you’d rather spend the relics on at the moment. You also have to factor in the time spent sitting around looking for dungeon groups versus time you could be out farming.

Personally, I think it’s more efficient for me to focus on karma. For someone who mainly just ran dungeons, though, I can see how fractals might be better. (As someone else pointed out, they certainly are more profitable.)

Fractal runs get you shards slower. However, they don’t require opening up the Temple of Balthazar to get them.
