I’ve got a bunch of inventory items from a while ago, when I was last playing the game semi-regularly.

Now that I’m getting back into it, I kind of want that inventory space back, since I’m feeling the crunch.

My main questions are “How can I best get some use out of these?” and “Is it going to be better to just destroy this old stuff?”

My highest level character is a lvl 50 Guardian.

I have, in list form:

350 Mystical Cogs
2 Ugly Wool Hats
3 Ugly Wool Sweaters
10 Ugly Wool Socks
A Toy Soldier Frame
A Toy Ventari Frame

A Crude Drawing
Wiley Pirate Paper Scraps
3 Dwarven Keys,

… And 2 transmutation stones.

Ulgy stuff either sell or use over Christmas.
Cogs and frames throw away, the chance of a use is tiny and the minis can be gotten by other methods.
Dwarf keys toss, they are easy to get if you need them for some reason.
Crude drawing I kept for sentimental reasons. It is not needed.
Scraps I don’t remember.
Double click the stones to get them into the wallet.

I think they are the sub 80 stones, you needed 10(?) to = one charge.

Throw them out. Not going to have a use again.

What other ways can I get the Minis? I was only able to get the Golem and the Griffin Minis back in 2012.

The problem with the transmutation stones is that I need 3 of them in order to get a full transmutation charge. I think I had 5 before I saw that the system for transmuting has changed.

I really don’t like how I can’t earn transmutation changes through dailies anymore. I want to keep my guardian’s Visionary’s Helm, which seems like a unique armour skin so far, but it seems like there’s no reliable way to get transmutation charges that don’t require real money, or absurd amounts of gold. (I just got to over 12 gold on my account the other day, and I think that’s a huge accomplishment.)

You get charges from killing things. On a busy day I get more than from the old daily method.
The minis can be gotten during wintersday which starts in a week and a few days.

The rate is
1 stone (1-79) = 1 charge
1 crystal (80) = 3 charges

That is easy. Log into any character once a day, everyday. You don’t get charges daily but they are in the rotation. Want them faster? Open the PvP browser and search for daily or rank farm. Be sure to read the instructions in the custom arena’s message or ask someone that is already inside on how it is done.

Another option is doing map completion of city maps with alts. Make an alt, complete the city maps, delete and repeat.

Where, usually, do they drop? From which enemies?

I’ve been playing for around a week or so and I haven’t seen one drop yet.

I’ve been buying some ugly hats while they’re cheap to prepare for wintersday.

They? Which item are you referring to?

If you are talking about the transmutation stones, they are not even in the game anymore (nor are the transmutation crystals) as far as I am aware. They both got removed. Its just the transmutation charges now which are fairly easy to get in-game. I think if you just double click on the stones they might even go into your wallet as charges now….I cant remember how Anet “fixed” this when they decided to get rid of them.

Also, I would not be wasting your money on ugly hats and other winterday stuff like that. Winterday is coming and you will have lots of opportunity to get that kind of stuff for free playing the game…if that is something you are wanting. There is nothing really all that good to get with them anyways….though that is purely subjective.

Edit: Everyone has already provided you will some good information about the items in your list, but rest assured that whatever you decide, whether to keep them or get rid of them, nothing on your list is of any significant value or use so its not a big deal one way or the other. And with any luck, you can turn the stones into charges by double clicking them.

I’m an hoarder in game, so what I suggest it, create a new character, buy a couple bags and send those items to that character.
I have a dedicated mule character filled with those kinds of items.

Charter Vanguard [CV] – HoD
Bardy Belzebuson – Ranger Sir Belzebu – Herald
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

About the Crude Drawing — don’t delete it if you’re getting rid of it, double click it to get a hunk of karma. I would hold onto the Wintersday items until Wintersday starts a week from Tuesday to make sure they don’t have a use this year.

Totally dump the paper scraps, though. They are to complete a heart in north Gendarren and more can be gained by working on the heart if you haven’t done it yet. Or just go to the heart vendor to turn in the ones you have to save a minute or two of completion time later.

I’ve been playing for around a week or so and I haven’t seen one drop yet.

Bit of confusion here:

The 2 Transmutation Stones you have (yellow) can be deleted as converting them into one of the current Transmutation Charges requires possessing 3 of them.

Transmutation Charges are not gotten via killing things as was previously mentioned up there. The quickest and easiest way to get more T-Charges is to ‘map complete’ any map (all POIs, Vistas, Waypoints, etc), which grants a single T-Charge upon completion. Otherwise, you would need to earn gold via your preferred gameplay and convert that gold to gems (or buy gems straight with real money) to buy T-Charges at the Gem Store.

Now, as ‘racial cities’ are maps that can be completed, if you have an empty character slot then you can easily get 2 quick T-Charges in about 10-12 minutes (6-8 is possible if the run is fully optimized, but realistically you could expect between 8 and 10 minutes to perform a T-Charge run):

  • Make a new character (I recommend Sylvari as their training instance seems to be the one that can be completed quickest)
  • Once out of the training instance, go to and map complete The Grove and Rata Sum
  • Consume the earned charges to add them to your wallet
  • Delete the character and repeat as often as you need T-Charges

I recommend only doing The Grove and Rata Sum as you could re-create and re-map these two zones over again for 2 more T-Charges by the time you map complete a single one of the other racial cities for 1 T-Charge due to those maps being much larger and the map elements more spaced out.

I hope this helps clarify a bit with the T-Charges and their acquisition.

You only get transmutation stones from map completion, PvP reward tracks, some story steps and black lion chests. That is it. They do not drop from mobs, if they do, they are probably as rare as black lion keys and precursors.

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I’m lucky that I have a spare character slot that only has a lvl 4 mesmer that hasn’t been played in years.

I think I already got rid of the crude drawing, so that chunk of karma’s gone. Oh well. It’s not like I’m really hurting for karma at the moment.
