Once we have an exotic equipment, is that it?
Yes that’s pretty much it.
On a sidenote though:
Why should we put asthetics aside and then put Legendaries aside once again?
Gear-wise yes that’s it.
Good thing there is so much more to this game that optional carrots.
Doubt I can ever afford a legendary, heh. Usually my approach is to aim for stats. I notice even mystic weapons are affordable so aesthetic wise I could go for those too.
Not that I’m complaining of course, since usually in other MMO I’m always the one who can never afford great equipments, lol, but that’s usually my drive to keep earning gold. This is the first time I can afford something as good as everyone else I guess
Well you’ll probably want to have 2 or 3 sets or armour with different stats to try with different specs / roles.
Just completed the Dwayna set on my guardian, now I’ll start a Knight set, and maybe a Cleric set…
I personally have a:
MF set
DD set
Condition set
Survivability set
WvW set
So…no. You get MULTIPLE exotic armor sets!
Exotic is the end of it, yes. Stat Progression has never been a big thing in Guild Wars.
Maximum armor in relation to story progression in Guild Wars games:
In Prophecies, after mission 18 of 25. 72% through the game.
In Factions, after mission 2 of 13. 15% through the game.
In Nightfall, after mission 3 of 20. 15% through the game.
In Eye of the North, after primary quest 1 of 16. 6% through the game.
In Guild Wars 2, after personal story quest 44 of 49. 89% through the game.
Considering there was a trend of giving you the maximum possible gear progression before 80% of the game, you should feel lucky that now that stat progression ends with only 11% left to go.
So shines a good deed in a naughty world.

In terms of raw stat numbers, exotic is the upper end. You can however built more than one set with different stat combinations for different builds, if you’re serious about min-maxing
