Anyone know of any reasonable places for these? TA/CoE/Fractals haven’t really dropped any. Have heard Malchors Leap, but the Asura there aren’t always around. Are there any other places? Or is it best to keep trying those and hope luck improves?

Hmm, I am surprised you havent had any luck in Fractals, the Jade Collosus on the Jade Maw frac have given me over 10 lodestones since I started running fracs again maybe a month ago. Aside from TA and the associated god statues, your best bet from there might be just to play the game and buy the cores to transmute them into lodes. I would recommend keep trying fractals (even levels) if it is within your comfort zone. I have gotten plenty of cores and lodes which I just store and eventually use or sell. I make a bit of profit from fracs as well which can be used to buy cores!

When the Temple of Melandru is clear on your server, earth ele’s spawn in Malchor’s Leap at Rayhan Bayt near Pegga’s Waypoint. These drop onyx lodestones.

Centaurs in the wvw borderlands may drop cores as well. And there are always events triggering so you get some karma as well.

Also could be the case, I think I started seeing more 20+, but thats just because I powered through frac levels so quickly that I didn’t linger in lower levels long, but the Maw chest seems generous with cores moreso than the other chests. Make sure to run even levels. Extra loot, extra chests, extra chances for cores.

If you don’t have any AR (Agony Resist), don’t worry about it for like levels 10-19. Hopefully by 15 or so you’d find a ring from the daily chest, but otherwise Agony isn’t too bad and is relatively easily dodgeable (you’ll learn each boss’s choreographed attacks that put out Agony and be able to dodge almost every single one, toughest likely being Dredge boss on Dredge fractal, and possibly Lava Shaman pending on how well you can see a bullet coming your way)

I do have 15 AR, but my guildies don’t yet (we’re a very small guild working together on it). We’ll be progressing past 10 soon, so hopefully in the coming months I can get a load.
