Hey everyone, I’ve got an issue due to my inability to understand anything computer related lol I’m looking for a new laptop to buy that can handle demanding games, but idk what it is I need to look for in a laptop :P

I’m what you would call computer illiterate lol I can look for big names and I can google up laptop comparisons but when it comes down to it I have absolutely no idea what makes each laptop different from another.

So basically I’m here to ask you guys what I should be looking for or looking at? I need a laptop (no, I won’t be getting a desktop, I need a laptop for my classes and my work, so please don’t say something like “give up on laptops if you want to game, just get a desktop!”), and I need it to be below $800, I don’t have any more money then that to spare atm.

Also a friend of mine gave me this list of laptops he’d recommend for gaming in my price range from Newegg, but I’d like more then just his opinion on them, just to be safe lol

- Acer Aspire V3-571G-9686
- Ienovo Ideapad G780 (59352497)
- MSI CX61 ONF-257US
- ASUS F75CD-EB51

So any help at all on this would be greatly appreciated, I seriously don’t understand this stuff AT ALL lol I’ve always been more of a woodsy/artsy guy, not so much electronics :P

P.S. Please don’t say I should just make a laptop, if I can’t even tell them apart already assembled I most certainly don’t know how to put them together :P lol

I’d definately suggest the Lenovo. I personally don’t trust Acer build quality. I do like ASUS, but the video card in the ASUS is quite a bit inferior to the on in the MSI and the Lenovo. The max resolution on the MSI is lower 1366 × 768, which I often find to be too low for gaming.

So if you don’t mind the laptop being a whopping 17", go with the Lenovo. Otherwise, MSI.

You might check out Dell…they sell Alienware laptops…..Alienware specialises in gaming computers. I haven’t checked recently, but I think they may have one in your price range.

On the other hand, performance will be better than at 1600×900 and if it doesn’t work out, you can still connect a separate larger display at home…

First off I hate alienware, not only is it more often then not over priced but they’re freaking ugly, like to the point I wouldn’t want to be seen in public with one of them lol

So Lenovo or MSI? But will performance be better or worse with less resolution? Cause to me it seems like you guys are saying the exact opposite from one another lol

Alienware does make good systems, but the prices tend to start at 1k and just go up from there (and quickly). As for resolution vs performance? Higher resolutions will always take a performance hit, but 1600×900 is still lower than 1920×1080 (1080p), which the video cards in both of these machines should be able to handle with little issue.
