Orr help
i find Orr easy and fun.
if you are having problems, i dont mind playing bodyguard.
obviously , you have to be on my server to make this happen (Underworld).
it might seem that it is wall-to-wall risen, but there are areas and routes that are empty and safe.
tip: holding down the ctrl key lets you see any red and yellow names, aim for the gaps.
(if there are no gaps, aim for the smallest crowd)
I feel like being an elementalist doesn’t help either, but that might just be an excuse for not fully understand how to play the profession because I usually can’t go more than 15 minutes without dying in any given map on the game.
This is your problem. If you can’t go 15 minutes without dying in like Sparkfly or Mt. Maelstrom how do you expect to survive in orr? Something is wrong with your gear or build or play (maybe all three). Try spending some time reading the ele forum for advice. I don’t play an ele so I can’t help you much myself in that regard.
I understand that teaming up with players is an obvious suggestion but I never see anyone around, even with all the events just sitting there with no one to help partake in.
Unfortunately finding people to travel with really is the answer, I think. Orr is a warzone, it’s not safe to go alone! But it’s tough if you’re relying on people just happening to be there. I think your best options are to find a guild who focus on PvE so that you can ask there (“I need to explore Malchor’s Leap, anyone want to come help me?”) – or to ask around in Lion’s Arch for people who also need to explore there or who want to do events there.
What server are you on? You may be able to find some players here who’d be willing to help out, or who have the right kind of guild (have you seen Operation Union?). As for the elementalist, it can be a delicate profession – I’m lucky, my boyfriend plays guardian and together we do very well. Take a look at where you’ve put your trait points, because you might find that you’d prefer to be a bit tougher. Also check your gear, and if it seems out of date (recommended for significantly below your current level) check out the Trading Post for cheap replacements. Finally, I spend a lot of my time in Orr trying to run places with the least amount of aggro possible, dodging around enemies without them seeing me if possible. There are a lot of Risen.
Orr can be difficult to solo, but it is possible. Try joining a guild if you are not already in one and ask them for help. If you are on Sea of Sorrows look me up or my guild. We generally have a few people that farm Malchor’s Leap and Cursed Shore every night and you would be welcome to tag along.
LVL 80 Norn Guardian
LVL 80 Slyvari Ranger
Orr is doable solo except for maybe over at the Temple of Grenth. When I do those zones I’m usually 75+ and have up to date armor and weapons.
Sorry I left some of that information out of my original post. Yes I’m in a large guild that’s pretty active. I haven’t thought of asking anyone in the guild and lions arch about helping. Good idea. Also I’m on Blakegate server and my elementalist’s name is Malphas Turring. And as far as my gear it’s all level 80 and relativity good i thought but not a rare or exotic. I need to work on getting some exotic armor. I have giving some thought into just starting over with my Engineer or Necro that i have that are both around level 10 but I’ve just spend so much work in this elementalist just to get frustrated with it all ha.
If you need help with the skill points then let me know. I’m on the same server.
I usually don’t bother to fight at all and just run to all of vistas, Poi’s, waypoints, and sneak towards a skill point hoping there’s no veteran. You can also learn to make use of your elementals and hounds as a distraction to get skill points. I often did this a lot when I was to lazy to kill things first. Logging out also resets aggro but make sure to log out somewhere safe.
As far as gear goes, buy rares. You can farm gold for exotics but with them being 4 gold a piece, you’d probably be better off farming dungeons. You can then salvage the rares after you get your exotics and likely recover the cost with ectos.

Ha yeah I usually tried to run around and sneak by enemies to get to vistas pois and skills but there’s just so many I just can’t make it alone I fear. And never thought of using the elementals to distract them before. I’d like the help if you are still offering.
use ash legion spy kits for commune skill points. There aren’t too many that you need to fight for.

Something like that exists! Ha Never knew. Nice to know now. Oh so many veterans I’ve struggled with when I could have simply did this. Thanks.
Build for swiftness. Whatever skills you have that grant you speed, use them. It’s not like most MMO zones, where you can break combat, rest, check out your inventory, and then warp around.
And yeah, Orr will kill you. So much. I’ve just reached 80, and I’ve just started to go into Orr.
I would definitely say do it with at least a few other people. It is difficult to push most of the events to completion by yourself.
I actually like the Orr maps, particularly Malchor’s Leap and the Cursed Shore for the harvest nodes, and loot drops. I went into these maps at lvl 80 with full exotics, and having fully explored all the other regions.
I have solo explored and farmed these maps regularly with a ‘glass cannon’ ranger without any problems. As others have mentioned, you need to pick your routes carefully, avoid the wandering champs, and engage when you need to, and to keep moving cos things will re-spawn quickly. You need good planning and tactics to survive these areas playing solo.
These maps are not like the other areas, and are meant to be tough, so if you see other players on the map, and there will be some for the harvesting, tag along and ask in /s if they would like to help you with skill points and the like.
Having said that, if your build, kit and play style does not allow you to at least deal with more than one risen mob at a time, then you need to reassess your character and play style.
I have never played an ele, and have no desire to, but I did party with one for awhile. This ele was traited for survival (toughness and vitality) with some condition damage, so survivability was as good as it got for an ele, but the problem was damage output. Low crit chance and no power meant water pistol base damage.
The main damage came from whatever conditions the various attunements could add. It took the ele a lot to bring down standard mobs in mid-level maps, so the Orr mobs were a serious challenge. When partied up in Orr, our main tactic was ele puts down AoE combo field (usually fire) and I shot through it for added condition damage. This worked very well.
Hope this helps ..
I have done orr now on 2 toons. The second time was much easier since I learned a lot and you will as well. Grenth you need to wait for a zerg, this happens regularly since it gives really good loot and karma (especially when it fails which people don’t seem to understand). there are a couple of champs guarding skill points that you either need to shout out to guild or map to finish, don’t be afraid to shout many people are willing to help. If not wait a day and they will be. The leashes are not that long in this area and you can run your way out of most trouble, have a shield skill available for the pulls and you will be up in no time. Greens actually will get you far in orr, just make sure you jewellery is also up to give you good defence. As was mentioned by someone else tune to air and have the speed boost going until you get into combat then switch around attunements as you desire.
Forgot to mention the second toon was an ele, unlike the poster above me I see no problem with my damage output and can take out vets solo, it does not take much longer to do so than on my ranger. Never took a warrior to max so no idea how many seconds faster they are at taking things down.
Better gear helps, a lot. Being 80 helps, some. Having a friend or guild-mate to run with helps, also. Some classes do better than others. My warrior can go around solo with near impunity. My necro almost the same. Mesmers lack AoE but creative use of clones, illusions and phantasms helps. I haven’t taken my Ele south of Sparkfly, and leveled that class to 80 in Frostgorge Sound (I’m still on the level 62 story, so no Orr yet).

I can help tomorrow night or the weekend.
Would Mesmer or Engi have an easier time in orr? ( Given = Gear ) I have both to almost 50 and still cant pick a main
if you want as easier time in Orr,
max vitality/healing/toughness and keep running.

It all depends on your build. I personally had a more difficult time with Mesmer since I couldn’t kill things quick enough.
In Orr, Stability, Protection, and Swiftness will be your friends. Don’t bother fighting Mobs, if you can just run past them. I can’t remember if Ele has a Fear or not, but those are are very helpful for the Communing Skill Points, as is some sort of Stealth (again, not sure if Ele has) and some sort of Summoning skill (like the Elementals, or the Hounds from the Human Racial).
In those End-Game zones, you can pretty much assume there’s at least one other person in the zone with you, who needs Map Completion too. Just advertise yourself in as many places as possible (Guild chat, Map chat, Lion’s Arch, Forums) and you’ll eventually find someone.
Also, spend some time on your Profession’s Forum page to get some really good ideas for Traits specs and Gear ideas.
Hope that helps!
