I need a new character for PVP any suggestions?

I cannot do jack 1v1 with a warrior. GS is like slicing lumps out of air and chasing shadows. Stunning with shield has a 3 foot range, throw bolas just gets conditions cured and bull charge is irrelevant with stability.

How the heck is a warrior supposed to do anything when most of it’s best abilites are nulled so easily? I’m so bored of being laughed at by thieves who despite being a zerk too h ave a massive advantage in using stealth that I cannot and a mesmer for cloning itself with disturbing regularity.

Should I change to a thief class, especially with a nerf coming up?

you should play thief a bit, to find out how other warriors will chop you up =) then come back to warrior and do the same for opponent thieves

Honestly, how does a warrior actually chop someone up? I have used a GS for a long time, 1v1 I hit lumps out of air nothing else. Either they are too fast for me, hide in stealth, or a mesmer dropping clone after clone on me.

I cannot think of any possible setup that works 1v1 with a warror, theres no way to sustain damage on someone. If I bolas them to use 100blades, then cure conditions, if I bull charge they use stability, everything is nulled and void.

Your best bet is to keep practicing with warrior. PvP in this game is difficult. Even if you copy a top dueling build, expect it to take a lot of practice before you are good with it. Warrior is probably the best profession to learn on.

You can also make a mesmer and thief to see what their abilities do and how you can beat them. Don’t expect to instantly do better with one of them than with your warrior, though.

in case of stealthed backstab thieves, autoattacking air, while changing directions. makes you harder to approach

as for cleanse and stability skills, opponents have very limited of those. and if you have other conditions e.g. burn from longbow combustive shot, then there is chance opponent might use up their cleanses before you even immobilize them

as for ‘throw bolas and bull charge’, imo they are only worth it if you outnumbering opponents e.g. in wvw. in 1v1 or equal or underhanded fight i’d go for utilities which increase your survivability (healing shouts in my case, as they have synergy with my burst build when traited to gain adrenaline on shouts)
