Hey i didnt find an answer to my question in the wiki.

“Each player who participates in killing a monster will have the opportunity to loot the body. Each monster has a damage table and a threshold value of damage done to it by the player before it will give full credit for the kill. This value is about 5% to 10% of the monster’s health.”

So i wonder, how things are if i’m a member of a party. For example, a party member inflicts enough damage to be able to loot a corpse, while i didn’t inflict enough damage to be able to loot a corpse. Will his loot authorization be applied to all party members, or to all party members who participated(even if it wasn’t enough) or to no one which means, that anybody in the party is on his own regarding tagging mobs and stuff.

Asking this my self because, as a mesmer, i have a really hard time getting some loot out of DE and i wonder if grouping with others would help.

From what I can tell grouping dosn’t help. You still need to do X amount of damage to a mob to get loot. Sence your a mesmer <and I don’t know mesmer skills> if you have anything that’s an AOE confusion it should massivly help in the DE loot department.

If I don’t attack something on a dungeon run, I never get to loot it…(note you are all in a party in this scenario).

On my Server all spawning mob groups in dynamic events die even before they are being rendered, so confusion doesn’t help at all. But thanks anyways. DEs are completly broken, atleast for me. No challenge not even loot, they are getting zerged and farmed and most players cast ground target burst aoe on the spawn locations even before the mobs spawn. Only chance to get loot is illusionary berzerker(spawns to slow but sometimes i’m lucky) or illusionary persona(melee -.-).

Any official reference besides personal observation regarding loot in party?

Been doing some testing in lvl 80 area with lvl 13 ranger, it appears that you only have to hit them once, while someone else in your party does enough damage for you to get credit. I’m dealing 0 points of damage myself (1 with crits) with glancing and immune popping up on monsters in this area, and i’m getting loot and exp as long as someone else in my party does enough damage for a tag. Haven’t tested if the amount of damage they need to do for a tag change depending on how many party members you have

I’m almost certain you just need to tap in order to get credit. Not all corpses will have loot. As this seems to be the case when solo as well. AoE helps in DE out in the persistent world when there is a zerg or bots farming the DE. At least you will get enough hits to get some loot. But you got to be fast to drop the AoE. In a group setting like a dungeon or what not everyone should be mostly attacking the same thing(s) at the same time so you shouldn’t miss out on but a few if you happen to not tap those before they die. Even a DE in the persistent world that has a reasonable number of players would be about the same just missing out on a few.

Ultimately, just shoot the ground. That, or go to less rewarding events (or even a quieter server). When the one proper lvl 80 area <rolleyes> is getting swarmed for farming, it’s just not worth the effort if you can’t AoE without a target (or more specifically, your target is the ground). Sometimes the mobs die before the AoE can get there even then.

somehow, grouping helps to tag mobs more for some reason. I noticed this farming CS. If you’re in a party, you tend to get more loot than going solo.

Don’t disturb me, I have a cat in me at the moment.
