My better half and I play on Blacktide. It’s not as active as I’d like though and to be quite honest I find it slightly annoying that it has been branded the unofficial server of a specific nation that isn’t english.

I’ve thought about Piken Square – the unofficial RP server as I hope people are somewhat civil and mature there, plus I assume you can immerse yourself more in the world there. It’s ranked high in WvW which is good since we recently started playing that a lot and really like it. But how is the actual population? How easy is it to get dungeons, fractals, world bosses, events etc?

We’re semi casual, but personally I’ve played since beta – we’re just a bit tired of how slow Blacktide is and how hard it can be to keep conversations english, so everyone can participate.

Piken Square is a really nice server, with good guys and girls. You’re very likely to find someone to talk to on map chat on most ocassions, people tend to speak English all the time (we get a few non-English speaking people trying to recruit people specifically for a guild composed of people speaking their non-English language).
I have no idea about the WvW, dungeon and fractal groups, but event groups should be easy to find, as well as world bosses (depending on the boss of course). I’d say we even have pretty nice champion trains. They tell you about the stops and what to do and how and where, and only rarely do we get trolls (not talking about the Queensdale one…)
It’s a nice RP server with a lot of people just doing their RP all over the place, you can sometimes see people doing RP in places where you wouldn’t even expect it. And if you want to actively participate, there’s some hot spots (mostly taverns and pubs), so just jump in.

I’ve been on the server since release, and have had quite a pleasant time there. I recommend it.
