Q:
Players AFK in World Events
A:
I think there have been similar threads like this in the past, namely to do with Dry Top afk-ers.
It’s not really wrong to go afk in game. It’s unfortunate that it’s at a place where an event spawns though. These afk-ers would have to participate in the event to actually receive exp or reward which is difficult to do (if truly afk) without a ranger pet or 3rd party botting software.
A-net would have to properly ascertain if these people are just innocently afk or being afk in an explotative manner, which isn’t particularly easy and could end up with people being wrongly accused and punished.
If you could mention which world boss it was, that would be great to begin with.
I see, Crimson. That clears it up then. My main concern besides them making the event more difficult than intended, was that they were potentially leaching experience. Thanks.
There has been a lot of that going on in the Silver Wastes too, everything from people standing and constantly running into a wall, to people just AFKing and dying again and again in the fort, then being ressed by people taking the time for it, then dying again.
One guy was repeatedly ressed/died during the entire 4+ hours I was playing one evening. Super annoying.
If they are an AFK ranger with pet and spam their healing spring than I report them as bots and let ANet sort it out.
