All I want is to contribute positively and create a great atmosphere on the forums, but for some reason most of my posts are deleted, and I feel completely helpless and shut out. I need help to know how to act on the forums, is anyone else experiencing heavy moderation?

1. My post was deleted for saying “I agree, this totally needs to be implemented” to a suggestion.
2. My post was removed for saying “They can’t…They’re reserved?” to a topic regarding reserved names. The post was deleted but the discussion following the quotes of my response lead to a lot of good discussion.

Before you delete this thread as well, know that in this thread all my intentions are to learn how to act on this forum, because like 80% of my posts are deleted, and 0% of my intentions were to break any rules or cause harm to the forum, I came because I wanted to positively influence the community.

So please tell me, dear forumers, how do you cope?

I saw that you had posted a thread about constructive criticism in one of the forums, and I had read the beginning before I was distracted and left my computer… From what I read, it sounded like you were claiming to quit the game. For starters, that is actually against the forum rules (you can’t post rage/quit threads).

With that said, I have no idea if your post was constructive. Regardless, I have personally never experienced any issues with the moderators deleting my posts. The forums do, normally, take criticism well if it is constructive. So perhaps your manner of speaking is what was wrong? Without having seen the post, however, I really have no idea and I hope you have a more positive experience in the future.

What about the fact that my post was deleted for agreeing with an idea? =/

It doesn’t feel right, I feel excluded from the community, when all I want to do is help out and create a positive atmosphere.

Sometimes they are in defense mode. A few recent threads like the ecto thread cause many people to start calling names, pointing fingers etc, it causes customer service to start being more strict when people act like that. They can at times be very strict, and even at times mistakenly so. Just be clear in your points and try to stay away from the mindset of many posters when it comes to direct criticism without constructiveness.

I understand you feel bad about having posts removed. I’m going to try to say this as nicely as I can. Posts get moved and deleted all the time and sometimes they seem to have no reason behind it. I’ve had posts deleted where it was something positive in a thread where a lot of people were talking trakittenhink moderators tend to get into delete mode in those kinds if threads and a few decent posts caught up in it and they are deleted unintentionally.

Having said that, the best way to be part of the community is to keep being a part of the community. People generally don’t respond well to ‘I quit’ posts and threads. Every message board I’ve ever been on, going on 15 years or so, posts vanish at times. If your intention here is to converse with other players out of game this is the place to do it. Although as a word of caution, the main forum can be kind of a rage fest at times for many reasons but I’ll hold my thoughts on that.

Perhaps you have come to the right place, Players Helping Players. There is a tendency for people to be much more enjoyable and positive here. If you want to help like you said this is the place. I hope you can find a way to enjoy these forums and continue to enjoy the community.

P.S. Out of all the 100s of message boards I’ve been a member of, I’ve never seen one that didn’t come with drama at times, even church message boards.

Thanks alot for your response, maybe those first posts were removed by mistake as you stated, I’ll try posting a bit here in players helping players and see how it goes. I got off on the wrong foot with this forum though, that’s for sure.

Hmmmm I’m looking at you post history and found this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/If-Ascended-stays-Make-WvW-use-pvp-gear

I know I’m the kind of person that like you can high heel into a discussions. to be really confroning. sometimes I do but most of the time I try to show compassion and understanding to the other person’s point of view. In the thread the Op has expressed his concerns bout an issue he is worried bout. I think with you he is wrong with his fears and it is months ago and with hindsight it is right.

But at that moment the OP had genuine fears bout a recent change. Maybe show some compassion. Many time a line like ‘I know where your coming from but I….’ sounds a lot different then ’ you are wrong cause…..’

Both are saying the same thing. There is a term called giving constructive feedback. You can say: ‘Your are wrong and im going to show you how wrong you are’ or you can say ’ you have some interesting opinions but I dont fully agree with your reasoning cause….’

So when posting try to feel as the person on the other side a bit more and I think you will do great. Good luck!!
