Plz help! Im the worst @ choosing a class
On a side note i mention some things about mesmer in the beginning, are these alogations correct?
Not really no. Mesmer is probably the best 1v1 class atm if specced correctly. The specs they struggle with the most will get nerfed in the up coming patch (10 dec) aswell. Some people state that mesmers will be the top dogs after the patch.
They offer some of the best burst damage in game if you specced for that, but you can go conditions or phantasms aswell. If you want a general idea of what type of pvp builds there are and what the gameplay looks like:

Another option could be to play an engineer, which is considered really strong now aswell. And its pronanly the hardest class to play in this game. So a lot of depth if youre looking for it. And due to its variety of tools and builds its quite diverse and it can do those “crazy things” you mention in your post.
Mind thats its really hard to get a good feel for a class/ prof if your low lvl level, or if you play a somewhat kitten build. Best advice i can give to you is to watch some experienced players play a specific class your interested in on a twitch stream or w/e.

Hey thanks for the fast response, I may try out Mesmer, since they seem pretty “tricky” and thats what i like. It was actually the first class that caught my eye but when i read about them it was very discouraging to even play them from a new unexperienced player veiw point.
I guess thats what comes with these games though since htere are always gonna be people saying a class sucks, just seems like Memser got a lot more hate than some of the other classes.
I’ve played a Mesmer through to the end and had a great time with it. Just be aware that, like Elementalists, you’re going to need to keep on your toes with them, since they can’t take a ton of direct hits.
I can’t speak for how competitive they are, but there’s little use in planning that far ahead, as there’s no telling what the state of the meta-game and class balance will be by the time you reach that point. Some classes may be harder than others, but I think you can find a way to make most anything viable if you, personally, are good enough at it.
Suggestions for leveling up a Mesmer: While leveling up keep your clones/phantasms around longer! Don’t shatter them too much at first. They distract the foe from you and help you get out of bad situations. But once you reach the later levels, start shattering more. They can deal a lot of damage at least once they’re leveled up.
Mesmers might get a lot of hate but that’s because they’re so awesome ;P It was the same way in GW1. Not too many around, but good Mesmers are a foe to be reckoned with (and that’s pretty much a level 80 Mesmer here as many don’t stick with them until 80).
I have two Mesmers at 80 and loved them from the start. Well, maybe not the first ten levels on the first one when I didn’t know what I was doing or understand the F1-F4 skills. After that, though, wow! Plus of every underwater combat I’ve done, the Mesmer is the only one I actually prefer for underwater over land at times. I soloed the river drake skill point in se Bloodtide at level on my first mesmer. A long fight, lots of action, and it taught me even more of how to use both weapons. I used her for daily aquatic slayer for a long time as well.
Now, I did have a number of other professions at high level before working on Mesmer. Still I have to say its been the most fun profession for me. Nowhere near as squishy as Elementalist, lots of range/melee options all at once, a lot of use in groups, and pretty clothes.
Beware that the mesmer has a steep learning curve. Was my first char, started about a month ago, and I’m still trying to get a hang of it.
I want a class that does well in PvE and is generally wanted for dungeons and stuff. But can also hold their own when it comes to PvP/WvW
I like being able to outplay my apponent and do crazy things some people might not expect.
What about a zerker guardian?
Mesmers are okey, but there are too many in PVE and you don’t need more than one in your party.
In WvW/roaming condi mesmers are everywhere and are borderline OP, unless you just run past them, in which case they can’t do kitten.
Breaking this down on PvE (difficulty at begin)/Dungeons (demand)/WvW (zerg role)
Warrior: Easy, wanted, front-line melee tank (crowd control, cleanse)
Guardian: Easy, wanted, front-line melee tank (cleanse, heal, reflect)
Ranger: Easy, unwanted, rally bait unless condition tank
Thief: Medium, unwanted, behind enemy lines attacking ranged (blind)
Elementalist: Medium, wanted, back-line caster (cleanse, heal, might, move)
Engineer: Hard, wanted, back-line caster (heal, crowd control)
Mesmer: Medium, wanted, back-line caster (cleanse, reflect, stealth, portal, time-warp)
Necromancer: Easy, wanted, back-line condition nuker and support (cleanse, heal)
If you spec and play it correctly, nothing dies ‘fast’. Nothing has to be ‘squishy’. You will have to learn how to play on whatever profession you pick, so I recommend you pick a style and role that you like. Don’t like melee? Don’t pick melee! Love to be in the middle of the fight? Don’t pick a caster! I think you probably want a Mesmer for the damage (which is high, but not so much at the begin of leveling), the demand in dungeons (which is pretty good for their support and damage) and their demand on WvW (which is one of the few classes that can completely throw balance off with a few well placed skills).
Inactive: Guardian, Elementalist, Ranger, Thief (ex-main)
Leveling: Engineer, Necromancer
If you really want to know what class is best for you,
Then you really need to learn how to Build-Your-Own Playstyle and understand the Combat mechanics!

I hope this helps!
Good luck and have fun exploring Tyria! =)
I agree that mesmers have a steeper learning curve. I have a mesmer and still getting the hang of it even after it’s lvl 50… haha.
Good luck in Tyria!
