Critical Impact [Crit]
Q:
what is the code to imbed an image in the thread, so the image appears and not the link? I use photobucket.com to host my images, but I can’t get them to work.
A:
The only way I’ve found is to use the attachment option (which only shows up if you hit the ‘more formatting options’ button or are quoting someone).
Here is a link to the different things we can do to format and embed things into our posts:

The link above mentions you can use the BBCode [img] [/img]to embed images.
See if it works. Just surround your photobucket URL with those tags.
I tried using the BBCode for subscripts and it didn’t seem to work.
For example, H[sub]2[/sub]O
Hopefully, the one for images will.
I’ve seen that page and tried those codes, they don’t work for me
Oh ok, didn’t get you checked there from your post.
Kinda funny their FAQ says the Textile editor works well with BBCodes, but the 2 we tried don’t work.
I don’t know another way, hopefully someone else might jump in and share their knowledge.
The only other thing I can think of is to download the image to your desktop and then upload it from there.
When you are first writing a post, click on the “More posting and formatting options”. That lets you browse for a file location on your computer.
Just select the photobucket image you downloaded earlier.
It’s a lot of hoops, but should work.
Danikat beat me to it with the manual upload method.
I was looking around and found a post from near game launch where ArenaNet said they disabled image embedding feature.
ArenaNet said the image BBCode was disabled so they didn’t waste time monitoring their size and content.
Not sure why the BBCodes for subcripts and superscripts don’t work. Maybe they disabled more than they realized.
Here is the link, and what they had to say:

In-line image posting from external sources is disabled on this forum. You are able to attach an image or text file (for crash reports and dxdiags) to your post by clicking on “more posting and formatting options” and clicking “choose file” under “attachments”.
Also, there’s a trick for embedding more than one image. If you preview your post after uploading the image, you will see the image AND have the option to upload another.
Not as fast as being able to upload multiples at the same time, but a decent workaround nonetheless.
