Precursor buy vs craft
Try gw2bltc.com
Ive seen posts in the past comparing the relative costs of the two main ways of obtaining a precursor. Is there a website that tracks this on a day to day basis as prices change?
Right now, if you can save up the gold, it’s faster, simpler, and easier to buy the precursor.
- Precursors are largely down in price.
- The mats required to collect the items via the legendary track are largely up.
- The costs listed on gw2bltc (which is a fantastic resource) don’t take into account non-liquid assets (e.g. karma or spirit shards) nor your time.
Instead of looking at costs, the question I recommend people ask is: which will be more fun for me:
- Playing the game and farming or not, saving the money and buying things on the TP.
- Working on the specific tasks required by the scavenger hunt/collection, and traveling Tyria (old and new) (plus probably spending some coin).
I know more than a few people who love one of the above and hate the other.
Save yourself a lot of grief, buy it.
I am actually working on every legendary collection. Just playing and all the parts are appearing in my inventory. Amusing as I am not farming at all, just playing like I always do.
The direct answer: it varies on what you’re crafting. Some collection items have a much steeper price tag to them then others. So if you’re looking to make a decision based on costs you may want to look at something like https://gw2efficiency.com/ and see what you have vs what you need to get. Time wise, the full set of collections can be done in a weekend if you plan it out (boss timers, map events, etc). If you try to tackle one thing at a time you may find you lost out on collection items you could have multi-tasked on.
