Primeval armor. Why so expensive?
I don’t think the armor is too expensive. In The Secret World a new armor/clothing set costs you about 12€ that’s almost twice as much. And that’s a subscription based MMO.

I don’t think we should compare it to other overpriced MMO’s because that would make little sense. We should think of it relative to how much we think the armor should really cost, and Arenanet has already made it clear they’re capable of selling costumes for less than $7.00
I think it makes perfect sense to compare GW2’s pricing to other MMOs.

Let’s say another MMO charges $500 for a skin and Arenanet charged $250, you can’t say it’s reasonably priced just because it’s better than another MMO, it lacks logic.

Yep. But unlike here , you can actually reuse it.

All you have to do is use transmutation stones once you find a new piece of gear.

You often find 2 pieces of new gear each level. So that’s 160 transmutation stones needed.

Which you either need to buy or find.
The latter will not last any significant amount of time.
I dont even buy any of it, i find it a bit of a scam that its limited in so many ways, not to mention this whole “light/medium/heavy” crap means I am completely locked out of some of the armor and dont even have the option to buy as i cant use.
They would make way more money from me if i could just buy the gear and wear it like town clothes…

Same with me. I think they will have a far greater return if they make the skin reusable and cheaper, much like in the original Guild Wars.
I expect we’ll see changes depending on how things sell. I’m sure they’ve thought about it, but they can’t really predict how many people will even be interested.
They have to consider development cost versus how many people will buy, and price it such that enough people do buy to cover costs and yes, even profit.
The armour looks fantastic, so I do hope the artists are getting paid a professional wage.
Thinking of the work they put in, I really have no problem with $7 for a vanity skin.
I do agree that it would be nice to not have the “transmutation” be a permanent combining, but more like the old way. I think they both have advantages and disadvantages from a profit perspective.

Much agreed. The armor really does look fantastic.
