Private Trade
go Search for a video for gw1 private trade, and you will understand why they got rid of it in gw2.
There were messages of Selling and Buying EVERYWHERE.
you had to fight your way to the top i you want to effectively advitise the items you wants to sell.
Is the same for all games with private trade systems.
GW2 eliminates all the trading messages.
I think the more important factor is that they were never able to find a way to eliminate scams, even though there were a lot of precautions in place.
In GW1 both people had to put their items/gold in and click ‘offer’ before the trade would appear, then they had to each click accept. If the other person changed their offer at any time the game would warn you. Even so people managed to get scammed on a regular basis.
Trading was also used to exploit bugs to duplicate items and gold on several occasions.
It’s much simpler for both Anet and players to stick to the Trading Post, because it makes both scamming and duplicating virtually impossible.
Having said all that if you want to give something to a specific player you can mail it to them, or if you’re in the same guild you can put it into the guild bank for them to withdraw. If you completely trust them you can use these methods for trading as well, but if you get scammed Anet won’t help you.

the reason im asking is due to the fact that, i just crafted my twilight, but somehow, i want an inci instead, because thieves r so fun.

It’s not worth trying to trade something like that by player to player. If you get scammed, the other player will get suspended or banned (not sure which) but ANet will not replace your Twilight or send you the money the 2 of you agreed on.
there are no private trades.
you can give someone something.
and you can hope they give you something back.
but there are no private trades.
support won’t do anything if the person doesn’t give you something back.
I’m actually pretty glad there aren’t, because it wasn’t until I got to use a good trading post that I realized how much I hated spamming all the trading chat channels in D2 with things like “GF for 40 SOJ” hundreds of times before it actually sold. You know… now that I think about it, I never got ripped off. The potential was there for sure (some trades went like this: I prove I have xyz, you send me 40 SOJ, then we trade 40 SOJ for my xyz, then you send me 40 more SOJ), yet I was never scammed (40 was the most you could send, and some things were just worth more than that). wow. people were more honest back then or something.
