So i’ve been playing GW2 off and on since beta and realized I quickly start to become bored. After really considering the things I like to do at level 80, it became more clear to me it’s not the content that bores me. I believe it’s the professions I play that cause me to stop playing after a few months. So with that said, could anyone get brief synopsis on how each profession is played in level 80 scenarios (PvP/Fractals/Raids)?

Currently I mostly play Guardian and Warrior.

Yes and no. I’ve looked up builds on metabattle and seen gameplay videos of the classes. The problem is the build assumes you already have understanding of the class and the videos have so much going on it’s nearly impossible to tell what the player is acually doing. I would rather not make a post in every profession forum.

What i’m asking for is really simple. For example; Guardian endgame is laying traps ontop of enemies for big numbers.

Ewww no metabattle builds are no fun. It really depends on what you want to do. Do you want to play PvE, PvP, WvW? Do you want to be support, dps, roamer (for WvW)? Different classes are good at different things, but if you try to play a class in a role it isn’t great in it will be a lot harder to enjoy the class

Guardian and Warrior are extremely boring for me. I stopped playing my Warr just a day after he hit 80. Guardian can be amusing here and there, but overall, they move too slow and don’t seem to have great variety in gameplay. Ranger I must say is boring to me too. Most of the damage comes from your pet, and it is far more useful to play from afar without barely moving…

The rest of the profs are really really fun. Mesmers have diverse playstyles: to me they are most fun when you play them for their crazy support options and weird utilities, like the portals. Also, they can kite like hell, and clever Mesmers must be the most annoying opponents in the whole game.

Thiefs just require you to really think what you are doing, because initiative runs out suddenly, and being squishy, they force you to truly evade and position yourself every single second. They are lots of fun too, and have crazy bursts, but require you to be careful and clever, and to truly master their tricks should feel amazing. Abusing stealth is so OP.

Eles are the spoiled child of this game: they just have everything. Damage, sustain, mobility, condis, direct damage, etc. They are specially good at range, but they have so many options I think you can really customize your build to whatever playstyle you want, as long as it include constant change of skill sets.

I have barely payed Revenant, so I can’t realiable give my opinion. As far as I know, they are fun and efficient, though VERY limited in the build area.

All that being said, my favs are Reaper and Engie.

Necro is good, but Reaper is awesome. We can argue that it is THE most slow prof of all, but it’s deliberate pace, cool effects, periodic transformation, multiplicity of damage sources, magnificent art and VO work, and the amazing variety of playstyles/build you can make make the Reaper really really fun to play. I can’t reccomend Asura male reaper with lots of shouts and some minions enough: It is just perfect to hear this kitteny bstrd making his snarky comment while obliterating everything around.

Engie is my main, just because it is the most fun I have had in a game in years. The gameplay style is totally insane: you jump from your weapon to use a specific skill that gives you a field, then go to another to blast that field, then put your turret and make it create another field and have to choose between leaving it there or exploding that very moment, then go back to your weapon to get cc and a burst, then use your toolbelt skill to give burning to your next attack wich is in another kit, and then disengage while blasting everything at the same time, and then run at max speed because you also got perma swiftness…

I’m clearly not a great player, but god, I really have lots of fun just by flamethrowing every mob around me and then giving area might thanks to my satellite laser, all the while gaining multiple might stcks for miself, and moving with swiftness and stability between multiple enemies.

With engie, although only some builds are “optimal”, the possibilities truly are infinite.

Engie skills are really distinct and entertaining to use and see, but there are also a LOT of bugs (from pulls that don’t work if there is a slight slope to harvesting tools replaced by flamethrowers), and some skill families (Turrets) are pure crap. Also, Scrappers have now the problem of dumb AIs (Gyros) making the life hard to live, but a lot of people seems to manage the problems well enough to be competitive.

I’m clearly talking too much here: IMO you should simply use that beautiful 80 booster and test every profession for a while before deciding in wich one to finally invest your time.

that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”

Yes, this is exactly what the level 80 booster is for (along with the test area to try out new professions).

The above post said it too, but I wanted to call it out more clearly.
