I want to get my elite specializations up, but I have a dilemma.

I’m scared of WvW, I either get yelled at by a team member for taking an objective or attacking an enemy they were talking to, and when it’s not that I’m getting killed by 6 guys with diamond titles and multiple legendaries.
But the proof of heroics look like a good way to level my elite specializations. Should I venture into wvw?

Or should I try and get all the hero points by running across tryia?
I never have had much good luck doing world completion, it’s all bad luck, some of the highlights so far are:
Giant undead chicken spawning on my head and squishing me flat,
A group of enemies playing soccer with my character until I got knocked over the edge of a cliff,
Getting eaten alive by a fire elemental that was immune to damage,
And the game deciding “Kitten you in particular.” and threw me into the stratosphere
(It was before gliders so I died on landing.)
As such I am scared of getting hero points that way.
But PVP doesn’t give hero points and neither do fractals/dungeons.

I’m scared of these but I want my elite specialization.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

There are a bunch of commune HPs in HoT. You could probably get by just doing all of those. That aside you could just ask in map chat for help with a particular HP. People also do HP trains in HoT fairly often.

The concept of WvW is really, really easy to understand and learn.

If you’re a total novice, go to the Edge of the Mists to learn the basics. Find yourself a commander (a tag on the map) and follow along with his/her zerg around the map and do whatever they do. EotM is a kind of a light, more casual version of actual WvW that still gives you Proofs and everything you would acquire in the actual WvW maps. Sink a couple hours in there, and you’ll pretty much know the basics already. And don’t be afraid to ask people for help in EotM.

I personally found WvW much more enjoyable to master my elites in than the HP’s in HoT, can’t say if it’s actually faster though. With boosts and EotM it definitely is.

Good luck.

Which class are you trying to get it for? Classes with stealth have it easier in either WvW or HoT maps.

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards,
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

I currently have 258 proofs. That was along side around 4 reward track completions so it should be at least 20 hours of total play time spent in WvW. In comparison 20 hours would be more than enough to get 100% completion for all of HoT.

The rate of progress in WvW also depends greatly on which server you are on and which ones you are fighting as well as what time period you are playing. It can be a bit dead at times and then you will be getting WXP at a much slower rate.

Hmm. Ok, which wvw mode would be best?
And where would I find HP trains listed?

For HP trains you can check the LFG. They usually have it up there and announce it on map chat before they start.

http://dulfy.net/2015/10/25/gw2-verdant-brinks-hero-points-guide/ documents the hero points in VB, and also which of them are soloable – in the sense of “you can walk up and take them”, not “yah, I totally solod the champ!”.

There are similar guides for AB, and the following two maps, but you don’t need them since you get ten points per commune and will finish your elite spec before you finish the easy AB stuff.

Use this to grab the mastery points as well, while you are there, if you don’t have enough glidering yet.
