Q:
Pros and cons to profession choice with asura
Okay a lot to talk about.
I adore my Asura guardian. I am starting Juggernaut for her. Her hammer animations are amazing (particularly hammer 2) and any leap or jump animation is amazing with Asura. They don’t touch the ground when they dodge!
I currently have 6 Asura on my main account. I have bifrost on my main Asura ele, and it is by no means a waste of a legendary. The auras and footsteps look better on Asura, to me, because they are so large compared to their bodies. Their footsteps are also just as big.
My engineer is also a fabulous character. Her rifle jump is fun to watch and she’s just a boat load of fun with her turrets and kits. There’s nothing like role playing a tiny psychopathic genius.
I didn’t enjoy my Asura thief, I just wasn’t into my Asura slinking into the shadows because I like them being loud and out there. I’ll post screens of anything I can.
Anyway, i first recommend guardian, because the animations are great and many weapons look great on them
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.

I too have several asuran characters. In fact, I am leveling up an asuran ele right now because I just can’t get into the profession with another race for some reason. The asura character makes playing an ele somewhat more manageable for me. Odd I know, but there it is.
I have both asuran guardian and asuran engineer at 80, and I love both. T2 heavy armor works very well on my guardian, with the Peacemaker weapons. My engineer is a tiny grenade throwing, bomb-detonating dynamo, leaping around and leaving chaos in her wake. Engineer gameplay is very active for me, and the asuran animations are very nice with that.
I don’t find a problem with armors and weapon size for asura but I’m not much interested in a legendary weapon. Engineers will mostly have kits out anyway (and thus not have weapons visible). It’s worth noting that all asura use the male template for armors, so if you like a female version of an armor you might be out of luck there.
My best advice would be to roll an asuran character and see how you like it. You never know till you try!
Main? What “main”? I play all of them sooner or later.

All the questions asked are a matter of taste. I’d say check out how the armor is adjusted to their bodies on and decide if it’s your thing.

If you care for my opinion: They look amazing. I love how quick they look due to their small size (just like a Norn looks sluggish since all races move just as fast) something I adore. A lot of their animations are either a hit or miss, for me they were a big hit. I love how they jump on their staff during a cast and (besides blurred frenzy) I like all animations I’ve seen on them so far aswell. Like Lilith said, their Legendary footsteps stay big, so don’t worry about those, how-ever all weapons will look smaller, you might want to go for the clearly visiable stuff if it’s important to you people see the skins you’re wearing.
I’d recommend Guardian due to being able to enjoy more of their animations, though an Engineer throwing grenades and placing bombs whilst moving about quickly is also priceless. Thief Asura wouldn’t be my thing since they are a bit more plain on animations, most weaponsets require little use of different skills to be effiecient (like dagger/dagger and sword/pistol are mainly 1 and 5) which means you won’t get the most out of the animations I love so much.
I have 3 asura characters (ele, necro and warrior), all of which use the exact same body design. This is my ele, you can expect my necro to look exactly the same right down to armor and dye choice.
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
I find myself going back to the Asura when I want to make a new alt. I make some other race…but in the end it gets deleted and a new Asura takes it’s place. I can’t help it, the story lines are amusing and the animations are amazing. Yeah they are tiny but I am not finding it to be much of a downfall as others when it comes to gear. If you want to farm out a legendary, I don’t think you should restrict yourself to playing a race you don’t like seeing or listening to.
I hate hearing ‘This rose has thorns and here they are’ and ‘I can outrun a centaur’…I can stand the Asura battle phrases as most are so adorable
Thanks a lot everyone for the responces. I love the story so far and have already read and watched some things about them before i started. I have started a guardian and love it a lot so far! And the animations are indeed amazing even though they are small
