The exotic ones you buy for 1350 frac relics, will I be able to slap a gem in it to hold me off until I do the real upgrade to ascend it? Otherwise its weaker then what I have which is a rare spinegaurd.

I just checked I guess you cant, no point in even getting it until you can afford to ascend it.

How do I get the stats I want which are power, prec, crit?

you buy the basic capacitor with those stats

will have these stats
+ 24 POWER
+17 PREC
+1 CRIT

+32 POWER
+18 PREC
+4 CRIT

to answer your question, no you cannot put an upgrade into the exotic capacitor and yes your rare backpiece w/upgrade will be more powerful than the exotic capacitor, so you’ll want to use your rare backpiece until you get 1850 relics to buy the exotic and ascend it at the same time.
