I need a Ball of Dark Energy to make a Cube of Stabilized Dark Energy.

I know you need a piece of ascended gear to make it. But what is the cheapest way to get the right item. Will a ring or amulet form the Laurel vendor work?

I dont think rings or amlets work, salvaged around 200 rings and no ball salvaged 1 rifle i had spare and boom my first and only ball

The safest option is salvaging the cheapest weapon or armor. Amulets, accessory and backpieces have a random chance. None from rings.

As usually- the wiki is your friend.
Summary: rings do NOT give balls of dark energy, amulets, backpieces and accessories have a chance to yield one but no guarantee (all RNG), weapons and armors always give at least one ball.

Absolute cheapest way is to have something not too expensive to craft getting dropped and then spend that 1 gold for the salvage kit, though obviously pretty depended on your luck.
